Northern Ireland should have had an amber warning, a lot of severe flooding in parts there. Eglinton looks dreadful.

Has been mental tonight. Last time I seen this much night time lightning I was still at school! Really bad flooding in some areas though, bridge out near Omagh, landslides, people stranded, trees down, power outages all over the place.

I'm gonna leave the curtains and the windows I open, so I will wake up if there is a good thunderstorm. Good luck to everyone staying up, and everyone further north, stay safe! :)

MetO has the storms breaking out in the NW from 6am onwards, building southwards but moving NE throughout the morning.

I noticed that to, it shows heavy rain from around 5-7am in places which may be out better bets on getting something

Yep pretty severe weather today here in N Ireland. Numerous rounds of storms from mid-afternoon. Thunder just kept on going for most of the day.

Then the the really big storms hit just after it got dark - perfect timing really!

And what a show - frequent vivid lightning and explosive thunder. Power was out here for a couple of hours and there are widespread reports of flooding.

Amazing stuff.

Looks more like yet another thundery breakdown failure around here. I don't think any of the "thundery" breakdowns this year have come off in this part of the world.

Nothing here but a little rain earlier on. Some showers building to the south west which I guess is the weak cold front.

Best T & L storm for yonks here around 4am ..

Several flashes and loud rolling thunder.

Poor dog was terrified though.

Last night I was in bed thinking about how thundery the sky looked on my way home from work and how it was a shame nothing was going to come of it.

Then boom! Literally a min later.

We had about 4 close strikes with loud thunder. Better than a kick in the teeth.

Camping in Dunwich in Suffolk, couldn't see horizon for all the trees but long period of super

bright lightning flashes around 4:30, thunder was faint and a long time after the flashes, over a minute maybe? Very warm south wind blowing all night, only a tiny bit of rain. Does anyone know if Oxfordshire got heavy rain?

Heavy rain woke me up around 3.30am and Im glad it did as I then had a fantastic light show of the Beverley/Hull storm to my SE. Constant IC flashes which I could watch without leaving my bed .
