When will the IOS version be released? Any sense of when - It would be great if soon.

I just watched the video that Jo did, and I noticed the glitching she is experiencing - the white gridlines appearing and disappearing?! I had this come and go many a time, and wondered whether it was normal behaviour or whether it's the browser? Chrome has a rasterization bug that effects users with Nvidia graphics cards, so I wondered if it might be down to this? Chrome never seem to ever fix it though, and it's been going on for years.

I think Jo manually zooms here browser out a bit which is what causes it not to display cleanly sometimes.

Paul - getting the ios version out ahead of this cold snap would be very smart for NW - even if a few bugs still exist.

It's a process I'm afraid, will let you know as soon as it's available on the app store.

I thought it was due out last week?

No, it's due out soon, no dates have been set or given.

Should probably let whoever runs the Facebook page know that, then..

Well, sorry about that, as it's just not possible to say when it will be available. It's not in our control when it's released, it has to go to Apple, who review it, then it's released to the the app store when they're happy. That process can take a day, a few days, or it can take longer, and there's nothing we can do to speed it up.

The Android Radar Extra has gone off on one. It keeps asking me to log in, then it just continually loads but nothing appears.

Started working again - most have glitched!

We were just discussing the extra radar app in the regional thread, Paul. It has come to my attention, that I don't receive alerts for precip. I have had showers in every direction, and not had a single notification.

Daft question, but do you have the notifications switched on?

Yes, definitely.

They are working now. I checked the dial for the interval, which was set to 15 minutes. I changed it to 20 minutes, and they started coming through OK. :)

Glad it's sorted, out of interest @Mapantz, do you have the free version on your phone as well?

There appears to be a couple of annoying bugs in the free radar app though, tiles often dont line up, and they dont load at all past a certain zoom level.

Also location zoom doesn't show unless I go into the menu and turn it off and on again.

Can't say I've ever seen the tiles not loading as you've got there. It looks like the next zoom level isn't loading for you. Which device do you have? Also, what kind of connection are you on, mobile/wifi, fast/slow?

In terms of the mall zooming too far, that one is a known bug and will be fixed in a future release, as is the auto zoom not coming on when you restart the app :)

I have the nexus 6p running nougat 7.1.1. The maligned tiles tend to happen when I move the slider too fast since I like to slide it left and right quickly to see where precipitation is moving.

On fiber wifi with actual speeds of 28 meg.

I seem to have a knack of finding bugs in programs though.

the radar for this part of the uk seems to constantly have a 'wedge' of weather being shown above Romsey, covering winchester, which is out of line, with the  actual weather in that area.. for example today it is completely bright and   dry in winchester .  This seems to be an issue with the radar station itself  at West Dean? . Is there a way you can check/ report this ?
      Many Thanks
      Alan

We've added a brand new feature to the weather radar on Netweather today, as well as the overlays for lightning and satellite images, you can now display live tweeted weather updates from twitter, making it the first social weather radar in the UK!
If you're a twitter user, using one of the following hashtags (#ukice, #uksnow, #ukfog, #ukrain, #ukstorms) along with a postcode or geo-location info in your tweet will plot it onto the radar map so you can share weather updates for your location.

This feature will also go live on the Netweather Extra radar tomorrow

It's been a while since we had any major news about the radar, so I thought today would be a good time to share some with you..

In short, although the V5 version of the radar is still fairly new and in it's final beta phase, we've decided to jump straight on to V6 and are currently working hard to put that in place. The new system will use the same mapping and zooms as V5 but will use newer technology to allow us to bring a number of new features - including many of the most requested ones from the feedback we've had on the V5 radar.

I'll go into more detail on these new features and some of the other changes in the next few weeks (including a major announcement or two) but the one change I wanted to let you know about today is a change in our lightning detection on not just the radar but across the site.

Very soon instead of our StrikeStar network we'll be changing across to use the ATD lightning detection system. Although StrikeStar has been great and provides a pretty accurate picture of lightning across the UK, we're always keen to improve what we can offer to our users and the natural progression is the ATD system which and gives even more accurate and sensitive strike detection.

Stay tuned for further announcements and updates over the coming days and weeks, we're working really hard behind the scenes at the moment and are all really looking forward to bringing these new features and improvements online very soon!

      Paul
