Shame we couldn't have swapped, lol. This perfectly illustrates though the irrationality of our minds. On the one hand you've got people who absolutely love the stuff to the point of obsession and makes them feel giddy with excitement and when it doesn't happen it makes them feel mildly depressed. Then there's people like yourself who hate them to the point of fear, but get them anyway, and if it didn't happen you'd feel relieved and glad. We're an odd bunch really in the weather enthusiast world. :D

I completely agree with you,Not only the anxiety but the pressure I feel before the storm,Ie head etc etc,.I remember being over seas one year, and the storm was beyond bonkers,It went on for hours and hours, and on the last of the pure misery I was feeling,The lightning was traveling around in the cloud(Probably a fancy name for it lol)And again my face was un grateful :)

I'm sorry you have to experience them where / when they're not welcome.  It is perfectly sensible to fear them, after all, the associated hazards: flash flooding, large hail, strong winds, fires etc are potentially fatal.

There was a time when I did not like thunderstorms, it was the unpredictability of a lightning strike that did it, intra cloud being my least favourite.  But fear eventually turned into obsession, hopefully you'll hate them less one day :)

  • Chilly with an increasing risk of frost

Once Monday's band of rain fades, the next few days will be drier. However, it will feel cool, even cold, in the breeze or under gloomy skies, with an increasing risk of frost. Read the full update here

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. Week Ahead: Cool but largely dry until later in the week, when low pressure returns

We keep a chilly northerly flow going through much of the coming week, especially noticeable in the east. Cloud and rain spreading south Monday, but after that, most places largely dry until later in the week, when it looks to turn more showery. Read the full update here
