Lot of convection building around here too, but nothing that looks particularly threatening (yet!). Let's see what the rest of the afternoon brings, however I refuse to get my hope up

There is - seen towers rising and falling all morning.

Problem with the convective opportunities around our way is that it takes all day to do something - anything - remotely interesting but by then all the CAPE has usually mixed-out.

We seem to be living under a cap all the time!

Tell me about it. I've got a few cauliflower heads now but they're struggling and just don't seem to be going anywhere.

Norfolk's gone bang (again - no surprise there, I maintain it's the stormiest place in the uk). Still, at least someones got some action.

Another dry day coming up here in SE Essex, not seen a drop of rain here since I got back on UK Soil 15 days ago!

Hoping tomorrow gives us some rain for the garden!

Pretty heavy rainfall just passed over here. One lightning strike fairly close by on blitzortung apparently which I didn't see at all, even though I was looking in that direction!

All of a sudden the sky has changed from blue with low level cumulus to this in the last ten minutes or so...

Cap's definitely been broken now and there are explosive updrafts happening all over now. Also, the sky to the north has got increasingly darker, however the wind is blowing towards the north east (as it has been doing regularly for months) so we need something to come along in the south west corner to have a hope.

Well the forecasts were right - nothing outside of Suffolk and for the foreseeable future we can forget about having anything more severe than heavy rain.

Severe rain that gets rid of this disgusting, sticky, sweaty, boiling, sweltering heat? I'll take it. :)

Very dark now to the North and also very oppressive. Conditions are right, but in the wrong place!
