OH.....MY......*£^&$JD God!!!

Never have I seen anything like what I just saw in south Bucks.....Chalfont area!

Just 30 mins ago I was saying this storm is just distant flashes and moderate rain....holy cow while it still flashes away right outside my window, I will explain what just happened....

So I was just about to give up for the night when the wind cranked up outside; we have two huge fir/spruce trees across the road and they started swaying side to side more and more drastically....suddenly the wind *really* was gusty I mean 50, 60MPH and the cloud above was illuminated and it looked like a US-style wall cloud and it was moving directly overhead, I could've sworn something was rotating up there and that's the most I've ever thought there was going to be a tornado....mad. I honestly have never seen anything like it in living in this house over 20 years now....the lightning suddenly ramped up overhead too and the rain was proper downpour. It lasted all but 5-10 mins but I got 3 mins footage on my Iphone, whether that's any good or not I'll find out soon!

That was intense!

Wow,post it on you tube or something

Aircraft inbound to Luton taking a rather convoluted route.

Anyone think anything from the Channel will hit here tonight?

@Paul Sherman feels like the humidity has jumped a notch. Heavy drops of rain now...it's certainly trying

Looks surface based - nice

Quite exciting seeing that scud moving so quickly, then a 60 second or so sudden squally blast of wind! Also excited to see all that explosive convection in the Channel.

Just looked at it, Must admit, so am I. Everyone near that circulation be very careful. Looks like a huge supper cell now. I really hope it isn't.

Of course the cell that passed over has exploded in terms of precip. Wouldn't surprise me if its electrified soon as it passes over central london.

Latest indications are cells are moving NNE at 20knots, with cloud TOPS at FL390.

I am glad I don't have that Supercell in the northern counties over me, geeze all we ask for is a nice spanish plume event with lots of lightning, not supercells causing havoc to peoples lives. One extreme or the other I guess.

Looking at it on the radar looks extreme you can see the rotation of the precipitation on the radar

Its a mesoscale convective vortex. A broad rotation. Not a supercell.

That MSC north of London looks incredible!

But I just cannot believe my area has missed out once again! However, a line of storms to the south of the country looks to be heading northwards which could be something to keep an eye on in the next few hours.
