FOR ALL!

I personally think Supacell control's the weather. Always does what he says... {grumble}

Haha, I really wish I did. There would certainly not be a 2 year storm drought over Belper :D

Thanks for the suggestions. Looking at the radar loop though, it seems to be heading more north at this point due to the rotation. I'm still not so sure, though - it's a tough one to call..

I'm wondering about Wantage, Then if it loops back towards Swindon White Horse Hill is easy enough. But I reckon anywhere on the ridgeway will give a good view

Hoping no one has been killed. That was a lot of rain.

Not even a rumble so far here. Very disappointing, and the humidity is unbearable.

Sitting under dreary cloudy windy conditions here. Not feeling particularly conducive I have to say.

Has the earlier MCS scuppered us...time will tell. Far too early for me to flying any white flag yet.

It's got to be the amount of time it's taken for the high theta-w air to arrive here in the far SE. Not that it hasn't moved in quickly enough, rather it hasn't been slow enough. Here's the GooFus:

thetaw.thumb.png.c9faf828d80bdc69abe9b2d38d878938.png

Note that the current t/storm activity is where the rain has overshot the higher theta-w air into the lower. Now look at the SE - completely in the higher amount. Note that this is for 850hPa (above any capping) This implies that only the west of the eastern incoming rain will have any chance of developing into storms. Of course, much much more to it than that simple analysis, such a diurnal heating, orographic forcing etc, urban heat island effects etc etc etc.

Not the only one buddy. I moved to cheltenham cos they seem to always get the storms when gloucester dont.

I have a feeling tonight may be a goodun.

That storm off the coast is where the fun is. Im certain thats where the energy is hiding. As soon as that reaches land, The left and right of it will light up.

The storm over S'hampton right now is just gravy!

The energy is mixed with that new storm in the channel and the stuff out to the far SW.. When all that hits. BOOM !

So the current state of play for me seems to be that the Hampshire storm will miss to the NW, but the non electrified rain near Brighton does seem to be heading my way. There was a nice breeze earlier but it's all now gone very still...

It's just got very windy here, probably associated with that rain.

Some real crud overhead now and the odd spot of tiny rain drops. Consolation is some gorgeous undulatus to my north.

Something is upsetting the parakeets - been going nuts in the past 10 mins

Hants cell growing rapidly. Brighton cell on course to miss me completely. Booo!!

Coastguards have airlifted 2 people to safety in Coverack as flash floods hit the village. The fire service says multiple crews are on site. The road leading in/out of the village will also need repairs as looking at some of the twitter-videos huge chunks of it have been swept downhill towards the harbor-wall.

The back edge of this

is now showing sferics. Also instead of being a blob it's now organising into cells.

Don't know what p***** me off more... a total bust or when there's storms either side of you, just out of range to hear 99% of thunder, or see any lightning.

So the odds of this heading to Reading are pretty good now?

I'd have thought so yes judging by the radar

Yeah I'd say so. It's heading my way, which it seldom does, so I reckon you've got a good chance. Keep an eye on the activity between New Alresford and Alton, I think that will be heading this way.
