What is that area of preciptation around Merseyside and the Wirral? Anaprop? It doesn't look convective, looks more like preciptation from a weak front.

Yeah light stratiform rain  with the sun still out a bit.

Can't say I'm overly enthused looking at the radar. Just looks like bog standard sunshine and showers for most of England and Wales. Was expecting more in the way of torrential downpours.

The best place to be now is the eastern coast of Ireland just north of Dublin, quite a lot of sferics being picked up here. I wonder if that is a sign of things to come for us over this side of the Irish Sea as this air is spreading eastwards.

It went very grey here about an hour ago... And headed off in that direction... But nothing from it at all.

This picture is from the Wildschonau looking towards Niederau , from Inner Alpach. You can see the remains of last nights storm in the top far left of the picture . Hot and sultry again this morning.

Best climate you could ask for as a storm lover, a cracking lightning show followed by convective skies and still that sultry feeling with an inevitable reload!!

a small storm has just passed over Grantham way, but this will be just the beginning I feel. Lots of convective activity for miles west to tap into this afternoon and evening!

For my town I am not hopeful of a storm today, there is a nice clear slice through the middle of the showers heading this way. Plus, Belper has a very powerful storm shield this year. So, for that reason I am going to take a drive either north, south or east and hope for the best as chasing these things will be impossible considering the speed they are moving.

Looks like a false strike, no shower in the area.

Yeah must be, I thought I hadn't heard anything on the radio at the time.

I believe that may be the mature top to that one, or the one near Louth. Some high tops over that way.

Wow. Unbroken sunshine here now and Actually feeling hot in this late July sun! Can see some rapidly growing CB's out west, so plenty of juice accumulating infront of these now.
