Just had 2 fairly long deep rumbles of thunder here. Spitting of rain. Sky looks very convective and looming black in the distance. Not seen any lightning. Come on!!

That lot is over Chester and Flintshire way towards Queensferry

Today and tomorrow look like giving me my favourite summer conditions: strong sunshine and heavy showers and thunderstorms...But not too hot!:D

Yes i hope the summer conditions tomorrow, are better than the autumn conditions today. Although today was only forecast to produce a couple of rumbles.....:)

There was a Waterspout off the Kent coast earlier.:hi:

A heavy shower near Loughborough is closing in on Belper. Could the fact they are moving in a rare NNW direction help something get to Belper as all other directions tend to see them shredded.

Looks like the band of rain is mostly dying out now so maybe that'll allow more of a chance for thundery showers to develop across more central areas that have been stuck under the rain?

There we have it, thunder and a couple of flashes a couple of miles to my North from a shower that just passed over.

That takes me into double figures for this season.

I cannot see anything happening now under the splodge of convective mess affecting the S & E Midlands along with western East Anglia. I guess this is why the highest risk today was always going to be in western and southern areas of England and Wales. A chance the showers in Lincolnshire could turn thundery as they have formed ahead of all the mess.

Edit: Bang on queue, sferic in Lincolnshire

There are some heavy showers moving out of Suffolk currently, these could turn thundery. Tomorrow evening looking a good time for where you are though.

Something is definitely amiss this year for storms around here. It's happened time and time again, something happens to prevent a storm from happening and yet just a short drive away there will be storms. Check out just north-west of Stoke, they will likely turn thundery soon. Here in Derbyshire, hours of moderate rain beckon looking at the radar. I can definitely understand the frustration this year for people living around here.
