About 2am I was woken by near constant flashes. Absolutely incredible storm seemed to come out of nowhere and spent a good 2 hours moving directly over me from south west to north east. I haven't seen anything like that in years. Absolutely amazing IC crawlers and few huge CG's that shook to whole house. Incredible. Very happy with that. Will try and upload a video later.

Yes, after all that and still no storm here. The east wasn't even initially meant to be the focal point for storms.

Every single time!

I know, it's incredible that there literally seems to be a storm shield above us!

Didn't post last night as I wanted to maximise my time watching any storms that did come my way.

About 10.30pm the sky started lighting up to the west/northwest. It was the north london storm - I could see it from my house more than twenty five miles away! Lovely blue IC strikes literally every other second. No thunder, but constant strobe lighting. Lasted for a good two hours or so. I went to bed with the curtains drawn as I have a west/northwest view, and lay in bed watching the sky light up. Left the window a jar so anything that came directly over would wake me...and it did! At 2am a storm came right over us. Loads of IC blue lightning again and loud thunder. :yahoo:I got up and watched it for about twenty minutes and then went back to bed. Fell asleep watching it from the bed. :lazy:So relaxing. What a night. :)

Have to find a way to get rid of the damn thing then as you lot seem to have had the worst luck out of all of us here for storm events.

I mean I think I have bad luck for storms missing a good 6 so far, at least i've had two storm days.

No, apparently not.

So annoying. All the action started about 20 miles north of me. :-(

Still Atleast you lot got something decent this time.

I wouldn't expect anything, as I live near your area and the storm risk is 0% from Netweather. It will probably either kick off in the West, North, or East.

Last night's storm over London was by far one of the best UK thunderstorm's I have ever seen. The sky alit with strobe lightening and CGs every couple of seconds. It was extraordinary! I'm all tired and groggy for work now too, but hell it was worth it! :D

I was pleased that the Bristol storm shield failed last night. Had a little bit of thunder and lightning around half midnight with some really heavy rain drops but that was a drop in the ocean in comparison to the hour and a bit long storm that rolled in around 4:30. Really tired today now but worth it!

WHAT A NIGHT!

Think my storm quota has been used for the next decade at least.

And today we are back to the standard cloud and drizzle.

the forecast from the met office and convective weather do emphasise more northern counties as the risk zones for today rather than areas further south

Excellent night for many of us, about time! The MCS glanced here around 21:30 yesterday evening, I was driving home and skies to the NW were amazing, very angry looking and despite it not being dark yet, there was a jet black layer into which scud was being sucked up at a very rapid rate, not seen that here for a long time. A mini gust front came through suddenly where the E'ly breeze switched to a SW'ly gale but only for about a minute! Then calm, then back to a light E'ly. 5 minutes of extremely heavy rain. Lightning started then and continued until after midnight as that storm moved NE, very frequent, at times everybody 1-2 seconds apart. I fell asleep and was woken by another big storm around 02:30, was so tired I only watched for a few minutes but some wonderful very frequent forked lightning and thunder. Passed out sadly so missed most of it!
