So the Southampton activity is now back at mostly flicker-only range, but a cell that erupted over Poole has moved into that range and may well be on a track taking it just west of here.

It does look as if the Avon Valley will work its downpour-dodging magic even tonight as I've not had more than intermittent heavy rain so far.

Ah there goes the first crash-bang in about 15 mins so it seems the cell from Poole is drawing near :)

More rain, still no thunder. Lots of lightning about though.

I'm using lightningmaps and it's working fine.

Woah jeez i'm seeing faint flashes to my SE here, not sure if it's because the cloud is breaking up allowing for better vis or if it's anvil-crawlers towards Peterborough. Just stuck my head out not expecting to see anything :O

Just been woken up as well as probably millions of other people in the capital. The thunder in this thing is incredibly loud!

A few hours ago you couldn't hear a thing from these strikes yet now it is booming like few other storms I've ever seen. Any reason why?

I saw a flash from Skellingthorpe here so I think it might be from peterborough

This is getting quite worrying now as it is absolutely hammering it down with a seemingly stagnant mass of rain just as heavy to my SW. There may be some serious flooding in Beaulieu I can imagine. Lightning still frequent.

Looking back over the past hour or so there must be some phenomenal rainfall totals between Brockenhurst and Lyndhurst. That's also where most of the lightning I've seen has been from.

Seems to have calmed down here now but we had 21.8mm in 2 hours from that.
