Something quite nice about jet's departing over London at 00:20 - hardly can hear them, but it's so quite out there tonight and it's a nice sound.

Holy crud, I ruled myself out as too far east of anything. Looking at the radar I shall eat my premature grumbling and go and grab my camera. Also that system that went over London looks absolutely beautiful on the radar. Just watch it loop a couple of times.

We need an invention that can push storms to where we want :)

Funny really - the majority of strikes recorded have been over water, yet the display has been going on for hours here.

I would expect the trough to be entering the south coast in a hour or so. Should be interesting

The cell down Bristol way may be a starter......As long as the main course(served in a trough) arrives before dawn

Does anyone know what the current lightning situation is with the storm around Peterborough? As I know not so much strikes are being picked up

Just got back from the cliffftop watching it with loads of others down there. We were there for about 2 hours and certainly no sign of it stopping.

Silly amount of aircraft overhead here. Obviously avoiding the trouble everywhere else! Must be amazing looking out the window.

DET (DETLING) VOR is a Heathrow Departure route, and also stuff going into Luton/Stansted is En-route holding at the moment due to the cell earlier.

Will any storm moving along the path of the former storm lose intensity because of what has already passed and break down to just rainfall leaving most of that channel activity to move further east of the original path because it's noticeably fresher currently.

Yes, saw a few, including a cg from it from the other side of the storm to you.

This reminds me of watching brighton webcams the last few months, its like two different countries.

Brighton lots of rain, wind and even fog.  Whilst I have only ever seen fog in leicester in dec or january and rain and wind is so rare here. Its amazing how such a small island can have such variable conditions in different parts of it.

Finally, a crawler close enough to produce a lengthy grumble of thunder. First of the night, 100 or so minutes after the first flickers became visible :blink2:

Lightning from the storm north of London fading from view, here. Lightning from the channel now clearly visible. From Rochester. Which is miles away. Never known anything quite like it
