Must admit dont know what its like elsewhere but here its 66/60f and it feels really unthundery with a keen east north easterly wind.

Yes, I'm just down the road in Benfleet and I noticed that too...

Right in the thick of the storms here in Reading with heavy rain and lightning strikes within a mile at times. The most impressive thunderstorm we've had for a year or two.

Weird... the sky to the South/ South Est of me is pink- sunset reflecting off clouds opposite? Don't think I've seen that before, it's like the sun is setting in two different directions!

The southern end has picked up quite a lot. Still a line of crud between me and it. personally i need this to shift north north and await anything from the south.

Strong easterly winds in Northamptonshire near Daventry. The cloud tops are still pink to the South, 30 minutes after sunset!

At this rate, I wouldn't count it out. But we shouldn't get our hopes up too high, it could quite easily dissipate right before our eyes! Here's hoping we get a good one! Plus it will be dark too.

Had some distant thunder to my west but nothing much was nice to see lightning though!

Watching what just started developing sw of here in the channel, I wonder if that will do something. Probably in the north sea by looking at direction.

Suppose will just have to wait and see them, on the plus as soon as it gets dark we might be able to see a few flashes since it's not a million miles away :yahoo:

Oh yes, would be a massive bonus considering the East wasn't favourable for storms in earlier forecasts!

Will be dark too so may get a good light show later.

How do you think Lincoln could look? I assume if it even manages to get the edge of us we should get a distant lightning display, or perhaps like 2015? When it was just lightning in the air without rain or thunder

That mass on the radar looks evil going up through reading! I'm still near cirencester waiting to see if storms kick off to my south. This current system may well take all the mid level juice prog'd for my area, but I'll keep watching!

Almost a carbon copy of the evening of 3rd July 2015! Exactly the same conditions here now, not feeling that thundery and a ENE wind, only to give way to one of the best lightning storms I've witnessed in the last decade, if not, the best!

You're telling me - there's absolutely nothing developing S and E of that MCS/MCV.

Meh can't complain I've just seen probably over 100 flashes but they've been pretty far west over Wycombe way....that area between Maidenhead and Wycombe got a good show...bit bland here. The rain isn't even that heavy.
