There is nothing to trigger storms away from this.

The next 'trigger' is the cold front later tomorrow which could see storms forming ahead- though these are likely to be fairly isolated and surface based (but potentially more severe).

I guess that is why we have a Thunderstorm symbol late tomorrow afternoon.  GFS doesn't have much to do with the cold front tomorrow afternoon either.

Very dark clouds to my South-west. I think we may get just some heavy rain from this feature but there is the risk of it turning thundery quite quickly so we shall see. Good effort this time round though, they made it across the channel at least.

It seems to be a rapidly evolving situation, hopefully some storms may form behind those over Bournemouth too.

Its actually difficult to tell which way it is all going. I feel I'm a bit too far east for the initial band but it may also be heading in a NE'y direction.... we shall see.

Does nobody on here read forecasts anymore?

Yes it's good to be able to do a spot of nowcasting here and there but can people please stop moaning that it's fizzling out when it's been covered many times now that the main storms aren't gonna be from that rain splodge over the channel!

Rant over!

I'm so glad you said this because the last few posts off some are quite irritating. It was clearly forcast that things will develop in the evening and overnight.

This one of the rare times when storms have actually managed to get across the channel. In recent years that's been the killer.

Isn't that irrelevant for elevated storms? I think it is more to do with the storms moving into less favourable environs at the elevated level.

I'm not expecting anything here until after dusk I don't think... besides it's way too early to call it!

As as an aside and I've not read the entire thread yet, so someone else might have mentioned,  It's three years exactly since we had a corking MCS this neck of the woods.

I say: Let's wait an see, it looks disappointing at the moment, there may be some development later, but I am still prepared to be disappointing. After all I will be on the continent from Thursday. Some dark clouds to my south and has become more breezy

After a lull, the wind has returned, and raining moderately. Quite a long gap between rumbles of thunder though.

Until today, i wouldn't have even expected development until much later. Far too early to call it a bust for central/SE.

Hoping we see something up here but not expecting anything to happen until the early hours. Lots of cloud moved in now but still 25.5

It's not very accurate anyway so I tend to ignore it. Once or twice it will be very good. Since it's already wrong I wouldn't take much notice.
