Any live video webcams down that way that people know of? Would love to take a peek at that storm out to sea.

It's getting dark by Plymouth from what I can see. The sea gull has made an exit stage left.

Met O are actually saying the word 'Thunderstorm' on my forecast. Well fancy that.

1st :

Dry and very warm today. Thunderstorms spreading north this evening.

2nd :

Scattered thunderstorms will spread north, turning locally torrential with gusty winds, hail and frequent lightning. Later becoming dry across the south, but remaining warm and humid. Windy along the coast. Minimum temperature 16 °C.

Eye candy for the eye. Frustration for everything else.

Not sure whether I will be in the right place this eveining but that is a really impressive cell heading to cornwall at least! Salcombe, Torquay and Exeter will do well from this I think. Plymouth should see some storms as well but they maybe on the western edge of them.

How will these storms being earlier than forecast affect later on?

I would say the GFS is about right if that is to be believed expect storms around Exeter by 3pm!

Don't know what the temperature is outside (local wx station is broken) but it is very warm and an un refreshing warm sea breeze to accompany

Need some rain, let alone storm, to clear the air

If this "key uncertainty" does unfold I may start accidentally throwing computer equipment from the window

I rarely get those camsecure webcams to load for some reason.

Found this one at Falmouth, good frame rates. On the fringe of the beast however. http://www.harbourlights.co.uk/webcam/

I think he means whether it will keep along the current area or if a new area of storms will develop further west or east?

Yeah they are pretty hit and miss and you have to persevere with them. Some nice views from a few of them on the south coast at the moment. Not stopping 100s of people having fun on the beaches though. Hope they brought a brolly.

Actually it looks like as though its heading northwards now rather then NE so probably a direct hit for Plymouth.

That cell leaving France also looks pretty strong...

Storm west of Rennes throwing out a good amount of Sferics.

Is it just me or has the storm south of Plymouth quietened down a little?

yep I found the above cam too. Can just see the edge of something.

Must be quite known with the locals .One guy just walked up the road doing his hair.

Maybe a spot of rain there, judging from the blob on the cam that wasn't there before?

Edit: deffo raining. Umbrellas up and people running.

Saw a distant flash on this one few minutes ago. The seagulls are quite entertaining too.

I always assumed an umbrella would make a great lightning rod but apparently, it's a myth!

Have to say very impressed with accuracy of forecast. Two mcs storms, one headed N, the other should head up the Channel.

Below is yesterdays 1800 run simulated IR sat image for 1200 today, (WXCharts) compared to actual sat image (vis) for 1155 (Sat24)

That's what we want, some nice mcs action, not these pulse type hit and miss affairs!
