The winds are really gusting here , there is a lot of ACAS about, I hope something is going to happen today, I am more in favour for storms initiating in the channel and northern France and swoop most of England and Wales during the night, like most large import events where MCS and supercell so are present. We need a good event, as I feel homegrown a are never the same !

I'm still waiting for Estofex to release a forecast I'm surprised they have not issued one yet!

My total guess would be that they are waiting on the 06z model runs as a minimum first.

3 years ago to the date I managed to catch these with my SLR. 1st time trying after a wait of about 8 years. Only seems like yesterday.

Hoping for more tonight.

You can see the edge of the cloud from that channel cell clearly. Taken on A38 by Plympton

It's become really gusty here in the last hour or so and the skies slightly hazy now.

watching Plymouth web cam by the cute lighthouse. Doesn't seem to be moving much. But those clouds have a nice colour on their cheeks.

Tried that, things seem to move, be it quite fast, then it stops again as far as I can see.

That storm in the far channel is moving well slow

Looking at the fax charts, I assume those particular storms are forming along the first surface trough where on the 0600hrs was over NW France and by 0600hrs Weds sat over the W country and Wales. Can see why the Met Office extended the warning area.

This does not necessarily mean there won't be further changes.

Unfortunately there won't be much viewing of lightning from these early storms unless you're under them, had this set up been 10 hours later it would have been perfect!

I've been looking at this twitter account over the past month and it's seemed pretty plausible, not sure what others here think about it?

Their storm naming convention isn't dramatic enough for me. It should scale from MEGA-EXTREME to APOCALYPTIC IMO.

I'm good mate, ta. Hope you are also. Dreading the sticky trains this evening.

While it is obviously clear that the main humid air is not here yet, it already feels increasingly warm and vaguely humid outside, with gorgeous Ac fields evident this morning. I suspect come home time it will be a little more "phwoar"

Glad to hear my friend. Yes, why oh why the trains don't have air conditioning is beyond me. Every year in the summer it's unbearably hot on the train, often with people fainting. Older models of cartridge used to have those little air nozzles that you can direct towards you and while not air conditioning (they're just blowers), they did help relieve some of the symptoms. Modern cartridges don't even have those, no doubt to "save money".

I'm biking today as it looks dry for the most part. Hope any stormy activity holds off until I get home! It's all kicked off south of Devon so far, looks ballistic on radar!

Skies getting very dark to the south and west of here. Just heard a few distant rumbles, hard to pick out completely due to the noise of the wind!

Looks like it's going to be quite a nasty one.
