The thread hasn't been done this year, better start it as I can see some. Low in the north, some with a kind of "mackerel sky" pattern, others diffuse and fainter.

First ones I've seen for about 3 or 4 years. They were quite common for a while.

Bugger missed them! Some also spotted in the Highlands the other night, Hopefully a good season ahead

According to spaceweather.com this year has been very poor so far....

Mystery of the Missing Noctilucent Clouds

This year, however, something mysterious happened. Instead of surging, the clouds vanished. During the first two weeks of June 2017, Spaceweather.com received ZERO images of NLCs — something that hasn’t happened in nearly 20 years.

There’s been a “heat wave” in the polar mesosphere, a region in Earth’s upper atmosphere where NLCs form. Relatively warm temperatures have wiped out the clouds.

There's some impressive ones to the North low on the horizon right now. Annoyingly it has clouded over before I could get a picture.

Agree it's been a poor year for them. These are the first I've seen.

Pretty well clouded out last night too. Tonight looks to a bit meh so far. May improve as it gets dark.
