I'm just west of the main line of storms but getting pelted with sudden downpours of rain and hearing constant rumbles on and off. Definitely the most interesting day of the year so far for me! Looking great for this afternoon.... fingers crossed. As Nick said the set up isn't great for anything too severe (according to the charts) but certainly looking good for some decent thunder and lightning... and flooding rain

Could you possibly put your location in your profile please Matt? :)

Hope these storms manage to stay around after 6pm. Very frustrating stuck inside a windowless department store on days like today.

Had a few big spots in Oxford now gone still n grey, hoping I'm in the strike zone later, but not overly hopeful

Looks like we are going to get the fun and excitement of a storm night here, which is good.

Oooh Richmond hill would be a perfect spot this evening - with a pint of Twickenham Naked Ladies on the grass as the storm rolls over :-)

Beginning to flood here in North Herts. Storms rumbling for the past 3 hours.

So far, though, storms coming up from the south seem be dying before they reach here in south London :(

And to think people down-south only a week ago were moaning about the lack of storms forecasted for that predicted (but failed) thundery breakdown.

Was in stortford this morning and caught the edge of the storm going to duxford. Few cgs and rumbles, torrential rain. But nothing terribly exciting, all elevated presumably.

I think many were fed up of the heat, and that any breakdown last week would have certainly been memorable!

As for today - I wouldn't say we've had our cake and eaten it just yet - plus I don't think anything prolific is forecast.

A good storm tonight will definately be appreciated though :)

For me the interest in today lies more with the forecast PPN totals and temperatures as a result of the airmass interaction and not expecting anything thundery, the meto giving some high rainfall amounts in the south and east midlands for today and overnight, plus temps are also a interest given that it's now mid-summer and barely getting above 12'c at times for us in the north/northwest/midlands *not factoring in windchill*

Funny how the radar always goes down when there is interesting weather to keep an eye on!

Netweather radar not working for the past 15 minutes. Showing no rain on it, just the map.

There still will be by the looks of the radars as there is not much of a covering across the south at the moment with lightning strikes.

Hoping for a more widespread distribution of thundery weather later, and its not even rained here yet by the way.

The storm today wasn't up to much. The number of storms in this neck of the woods seems to be massively down on previous years. However, on the plus side we've had an amazing Spring/summer so far, best for quite a few years.
