As proof you don't always need excessive heat for the storms Edinburgh has had a few big ones just now and it hasn't been an especially warm day there :)

Took some time to appear but I believe this is the trough now starting to form with vertical placement of the cells and more of a easterly movement in them. Wind-vectors shows a convergence taking place over Cheshire into Mersyside aswell which is indicative of it. Going to be watching this over the next hour and see what happens further north and south.

Think places well east of the Pennines should do well if they develop further (a big if). They're not likely to trouble here given their lack of development.

Would love it all to go bang on the radars but I've a feeling if it does it won't be for another hour or two and then it'll be much further east.

Pretty sure it was that small cell near Stoke that I could see skyrocketing up to the very far NW sky from Cambs. Certainly plenty of energy out there, as it was going up at a rapid rate.

Is anything going to happen in around London? it's 29° in the skies look quite strange

Don't know whether to stick around or head back home and call it a night

edit:  or maybe start heading northwards ?

It's clearing up a bit now but the sky is still pretty interesting.

BBC forecast still going for storms midday tomorrow in our neck of the woods so the energy is still going to be enough to innitiate them.

Well the torrentail downpours today have produced 0.6mm of rain. At least I've got some rain to measure tomorrow.
