Something tells me there's crisp convection over Yorkshire.

I hope that's not the Seabrook's 'lovingly made in Yorkshire' factory?:shok:

Eh?? why are people giving up hope at 3:20pm on a blazing hot afternoon with eroding heights still to move across into an area with superb potential for homegrown storms?

i can accept northern parts are now looking to be out of the running - but until the day is out I think we've got a lot to be hopeful for.

Gotta keep an eye on the radar and wait!

i'm not saying it'll happen - but what point is there if you give up before it's even started?

Because its not a blazing hot afternoon here

i can accept northern parts are now looking to be out of the running - but until the day is out I think we've got a lot to be hopeful for.

REALLY?! What would that be then?

Gotta keep an eye on the radar and wait!

Wait for the next bust, or French theft of storms

i'm not saying it'll happen - but what point is there if you give up before it's even started?

I'm saying it WON'T happen.

i really wished it was dark this morning, as that incredible cloud i captured was (according to lightning maps) giving off quite a few flashes.

Looking west here the clouds are getting more overcast with dark bases, ties up with what Sat24 is showing in that a line of convection is beginning to bunch together.

Big spots of rain but I suspect the main fruit bearing will be after it crosses into Yorkshire.

Very probably, HW. I spent a weekend in Hadfield, way back in 2005; 80+ Fahrenheit and not a storm to be seen, until about Glasgow, that was!:D

What is your location?  Just helps when identifying areas for storm activity that's all :-)

It's amazing how far you can see these things ,I observed a large cumulonimbus from here while a another member in the SE could see the same storm :shok:

I'm trying to find an online tool where you put in your location, select your evelvation and it shows you a topographical horizon with what'as visible from that height.  Anyone got the link, please?

We've got a couple of new radar apps which are currently in beta that are available to try (they're stable, but may have some bugs and issues within them still, as they are pre-release versions).

For Extra subscribers, you can join the beta test here (the app will be a free addition to your subscription):
https://play.google.com/apps/testing/tv.netweather.netweatherradarextra

For non-subscribers, you can join here:

Hopefully they'll come in useful today! If you do have any feedback or spot any bugs, please head over to the the feedback thread:

Thanks

Just reposting this, since the thread is moving fast and it may have been missed first time round :D
