Yay definite distant rumble of thunder there. Can call this a thunder day lol (certainly feels like one)

However the convection is starting to wain in the train of updraughts so would expect this lot to start decaying (LOL - just as I wrote that I saw a wicked white CG)

Shocking forecast,me thinks something went very wrong today.:nonono:

Agree on both counts, no doubt thunderstorms are notoriously hard to predict exact locations, however to give a weather advice warning using words such as 'flooding to homes and businesses' is a bit over the top for what was reality. The reality was a far cry from what was forecast.

Those towers from an hour and a half ago have since combined and shot up into a massive, dark cb that just produced a faint rumble a few minutes ago. However, it's all to my north west so once again it's developed here, will drift away to Essex and then ignite. :wallbash:

Edit - and as I type, another faint rumble. I'll take what I can get. :)

It is thundering in South Ockendon Essex! Anyone else confirm this?

Constant low rumbling to the North. Still building by the looks of it. Chelmsford looks to be the path for this storm.

Everything seems to have passed over, heading East. We weren't likely to get anything today going by forecasts, so not entirely surprised. Hope you lot Eastwards get some stonkers!

Absolutely loving this convective display. Look - dual pileus caps, that's definitely a first for me.

@Windblade if you're hearing thunder it means the convective train in theory is getting closer yay

It's still rumbling away my friend. It's directly to my nww. It's absolutely huge. If it came just a little bit eastwards I'd be under it. I'm right on the southeast flank. It's still bubbling up with dark cauliflowers and giving off the odd distant rumble. I can see it's slowly drifting towards Essex (us breeding storms for Essex seems to be a reoccuring theme this year) so I think that's all the action I'm gonna get today, but I'll gladly take it. :)

Could we get lucky, there is a very small bright echo on the radar at the moment west of Bridgenorth, and its all moving east lets see :)

Yup can still hear odd rumbles however the train of towers keeping it rejuvenating are rapidly decaying. There seems to be a fresh tower however due W of the current storm, which may be a fresh lot developing

If only this was Western/Central Africa - we'd be seeing monsters in the sky.

Why can't it be southwest of the current storm for once? It's always west or northwest (and drifts northeastwards - missing us and hitting Essex). :wallbash:

Definitely a fresh robust Cb developing to the W of this most recent storm.

Think it might be game over here now, clouds look promising but might be too late for anything to happen, Netweather forecast still up for the idea around 9pm but not too sure on that tbh
