Well I have managed to get out of work before anything happens. Now I just need to figure out if anything is going to happen. If I believe Euro4 then it is a bit fat "NO".

It is hot and humid, the sun is out albeit hazy at times and a fair amount of cumulus clouds developing. Storms are breaking out in the north, earlier forecasts had inferred they would move SE but they seem to be moving NE. Intense storm now near Northallerton.

:oops:Decided to check how much rain had fallen under that train of storms further south into Norfolk and Wymondham had 199mm according to Wunderground

I may end up being badly wrong but I call this a bust anywhere to the south of the M62. The telltale sign of a forthcoming bust is the forecast radar substantially overplaying the actual outcome. Just look at the difference between the two from a forecast at 3pm!! This is exactly what happened over the channel last night, it seems as though there is a cap holding things back at the moment.

I think the North York Moors could do well, maybe parts of East Yorkshire but this is looking decidedly tame now,

Rainfall accumulation south of Norwich where the train seemed to follow seem to have had between 14-36mm in a few hours, so less then i expected but still alot of rain!

Plenty of mid level convection around but no ommff......looking at the local wind vectors a bit of a convergance zone may be setting itself up.....Maybe a trigger (more likely to be 30 miles to the East though:nonono:)

UEA weather station on Wunderground shows 28 mm, though they probably had more than where I am.

OP said M62. It runs Manchester to Hull approximately.

Something is inhibiting development into storms. Only 1 shower in the NE is currently electrified. One did for a bit, now has stopped. I thought the inhibiting factors for storms were greatly diminished today?

The sun only just got out at 3:30 here in Northumberland. Been cloudy all day.

M62 from Manchester to Hull, maybe some storms may form over the North of the peak district as an optimistic punt.

If Lincolnshire is to get anything then it will be this evening, and there is a higher chance there than there is here. In fact, I am contemplating driving into Lincolnshire as I cannot find a single reliable forecast that shows a storm here now.
