This is new. First real fluffy clouds of the day just to the West. Still hardly a breathe of wind (tops of trees not moving) but feeling like like first hints of breeze from south atm. IMG_3686.thumb.JPG.1c7b5f6513228a757bdf2560881fa906.JPG

Eh?? why are people giving up hope at 3:20pm on a blazing hot afternoon with eroding heights still to move across into an area with superb potential for homegrown storms?

i can accept northern parts are now looking to be out of the running - but until the day is out I think we've got a lot to be hopeful for.

Gotta keep an eye on the radar and wait!

i'm not saying it'll happen - but what point is there if you give up before it's even started?

A nice shower formed just south of Manchester. Pity it couldn't be 5 miles further north.

I'm only a few miles south of the cathedral, and it isn't raining here at all.  Still plenty of IC lightning, though.

The potential was forecasted for early in the morning and nothing noteworthy has materialised and we're now over halfway through the afternoon. Don't see any meaningful convection whatsoever yet, so unless something happens rapidly in the next few hours it's looking like a bust as no night time storms were forecasted (so we're relying on heat during the day while the sun's up to kick things off). That, along with pretty much all severe weather forecasts being downgraded for my area one after the other adds up to things not looking so good now. I really hope I'm wrong but as more time goes on it's looking less and less likely I'll see anything.

Well...just looked out the window (overhead) and seen this....go figure.

There is much more pronounced AcCas just N of London.

I'm starting to loose hope as nothing has happened yet for most of England, just got to see if the evening brings anything, though we are still in the warning area

Sun's out again, had nice afternoon trying to stay in front of and parallel to the storms, foiled by tractors and annoying artic who wanted to park on my favoured viewing spot (hrummph!). Got some CGs on vid though, bit cross as seem to have lost all my camera filters with and ideal opportunity to try for some daytime lightning :nonono:

The most textbook AcCas I've seen all year developing more widely now to my NW and (crucially) W

I am also loosing hope now. The curse of the Irish sea.

It was looking so promising earlier on. As soon as the wind shifted NW'ly a voice in my head said "that's the end of that then".
