high level cloud here right now, thinking this is going to hamper our chances of something developing later, and now just checked the met office forecast and no storms are now forecast, bugger, guess i will be going circuit training instead

I've decided to stay put. I think somewhere around here will cop for a good one later this evening. The current elevated blanket of cloud looks to be giving way to a clear sector, always keep an eye on the clear sectors as this is where most of the energy builds up from insolation.

Just looking at the radar again  and there is quite a big mass heading towards wales  was that forecast?.  because in the next hour or so Wales could experience quite a bit of rainfall.

Yes.  It seem to be growing in size as it makes its way.  Met office warnings exclude most of Wales i believe

Whats this feature heading into Wales? It was not forecast. Only a few clouds here and very warm though. 26C

Looks like that is a weakening cold front moving in across the country later on. Wind convergence zones are due to form ahead of this, which is the main trigger I believe that is meant to spark scattered thunderstorms later on this evening across some parts of the Midlands and E/NE/SE areas later.

If it was an active slow moving cold front I assume we could have been looking at something more widespread.

Checking the most recent met office surface pressure chart the corresponding symbol:

Very promising BBC forecast update for here. It mentioned East Midlands and Lincs in particular for hail and lightning. Should be some developments over the Midlands in the next couple of hours going by the forecast. Estofex also issuing the level 2 for what they seem to be on about too. It ain't looking bad.

Tropical here in the South Hams, a few wisps of cloud and nice and hot.

No storms here but there's always the hope!:D

All the best to the more favourable parts of the country, I think it could be quite spectacular later on...

Do people think that London will miss out? The current radar is showing nothing. I am a complete novice,to bear with my stupid questions.

Is it possible for things to bubble up from nowhere later on?>

Estofex level 2 is specifically for E England and mainly for strong wind gusts and hail and to a lesser extent precipitation away from that it's a level 1 but no specific mention in their forecast

Yep. In the description though, it says during the later period (evening) is when the main threat will arise. The level one covers much of the Midlands too.

Towers starting to go up now...

The sky is very unstable looking around here... Very warm, but a most pleasant cooling breeze has picked up out of nowhere.:bomb::)

... Now time for a spot of lunch and watch how this develops. :bomb:
