Temperature is mid 20s now and rising here in Swindon, it looks like the storm in Cambridge was spawned around Swindon if you look on the radar loop.Hopefully as the temps increase the more widespread storms in the south will become.

I can see the cloud tops from here, they were going up, but then they started flattening out quickly  - weak updrafts.

Ah bummer! There seems to be a fair bit formed since I've been here which is only 5 minutes.

Sky to my north :

Looks nice - but it's not quite like the convective stuff I've seen in the distance here in Kent, it's a lot more hazy and the cumulus have that really sharp edge on them which screams 'developing situation'!

Looking good by my reckoning as there is a lot of sun hitting a lot of the surface at the mo in the south around London and off to the west. There is a lot of unstable air about and I think it's just a matter of time, probably 4 or 5 ish we'll be seeing real things kicking off - which is *hopefully* when I'll be heading up towards Essex (or staying put!)

high level cloud here right now, thinking this is going to hamper our chances of something developing later, and now just checked the met office forecast and no storms are now forecast, bugger, guess i will be going circuit training instead

So I've decided to pack some of my home made lasagna and head out across the fields to see what's happening... I can think of worse places to have lunch, whilst this lot hopefully develops. :bomb::D

Nice good luck :) Netweather predicting 20mm of rain here from 1 till 4 they clearly think things are going to brew over here.

They're giving it another go, it's changing all of the time.

Can you see them?

The clouds in the distance have that hazy faint yellowish colour to them what ive seen a few times before, during a day when thunderstorms were forecast.

It's definitely going to be a day where selective areas are going to get a battering but many guys n girls are going to be very disappointed I think... as with any storm situation. But we'll see.

My gut feel is the best place to be for storms today is the South East and EA, according to what the charts and recent developments say

The 06Z NetWx SR looks a bit drab this evening, compared to the 00Z anyway..

South Downs doing its thing with Surface winds creating convergence for Storms - A few earlier impacted the Maidstone area before drifting ENE out into the Estuary expect a few more to develop in roughly the same area and again following the same track

Things beginning to get underway here on the western side of the Peaks now aswell, nice cumulus towers beginning to build up.

Much stronger cap on the SE side of the convergence line, towers trying hard to make a go of it, gonna take some to get through it, London UHI may come into play later.

Good development there, showing the surface based convection :)

Yep towers keep building very quickly, some thunder and then they quite quickly move ENE. Then repeat. Every now and then we get a minute of big fat rain drops. It feels tropical :) almost like Central Florida.
