It's starting to show promise in northern England but I would temper your expectations until you see significant improvement - seems like a lot of the residual energy is gone now from the UK

if these do turn into anything it looks like Lincolnshire could be a good place.. or is that just me hoping it makes it there so theres a small chance they made it across the wash to me

Naughtily on my phone at lunchtime so I can give you all an update. Had a nice storm here from about 10:45 until about 11:30 which bought with it some nice bright CGs and some lovely deep booming thunder as well as some absolutely torrential downpours. Still feeling pretty humid although the temperature is much lower than previous days. That's now 8 days of thunder in just over a month, more than the whole of 2016!

Have a good, stormy afternoon everyone :)

I wonder what that strange artefact is that is at the bottom of the lightning strike. I had exactly the same on a video grab that I did.

It's down to the 'rolling shutter' effect, of the camera. It can happen vertically and horizontally as the camera scans rows at a time, rather than the whole image in one go.

Well I gave up and went to bed but got woken up early hours of the morning by 2 of the most almighty bangs of thunder which shook the lodge I'm staying in in Cottingham. Must've been the storm that buggered off into the North Sea as nothing else happened after. Frightened the bejeebers out of me and my husband haha. Just had a little storm with about 10 rumbles of thunder, but saw no lightning. Rain hammered for about 10 mins but all quiet again now.

Well I am in probably the most stormy country in Europe currently but I still cannot get a break. Germany is alight but NW Germany is bathed in 35c, clear skies and sunshine with not a storm even close :(

Woohoo! This morning I had 3, vibrant CGs, and 6 booms of thunder, with very large convective raindrops. :yahoo:
