The weather Gods havn't been kind to us in recent times have they? Plumes with mega CAPE values but a lack of or no thunderstorms, winters without snow.... perhaps a sacrifice needs to be made to appease them and grant us snowy winters and supercells.

Either way this evening's storm watching has turned out to be the meteorological equivalent of watching paint dry.

What a letdown:rofl:

Are chances rising for action in our pants tonight and tomorrow morning? Looks promising :)

You might want to rewrite that...that or the double entendre was intended?

I noticed that but was too polite to point it out.

This looks more like it if it stands. SB and ML CIN falls away for tomorrow (not just for Norwich) and a reasonable amount of CAPE builds up.

If you look at the forecast for 01:00 it says CAPE 0. Yesterday it said CAPE 1800. Amazing in such a short space of time it changes so much.

Why am I not surprised the storm in the north east gains intensity when it hits the North Sea. We just don't get decent thunderstorms in the UK anymore. I remember the storms in the 90s, epic all nighters that would still be rumbling the next morning.

Last September we had an insane storm that lasted most of the night into the morning, one of the bolts of thunder was incredibly loud but I didn't see it because my curtains were closed and a train was derailed by a mudslide!

Not read through the comments but wanted to say how disappointed I have been with tonights storm potential ..... other than a few 'minor' lightning strikes towards the NW and a few very isolated downpours across the north of England ... here in Leeds we have had two periods of what I would call 'spot' rain today .... so much for the 'severe' potential. Having said that , it is still extremely muggy out at the moment

We actually did quite well that week with 2 overnight storms in the space of 3 nights.

We had a couple of distant rumbles from the storm that rocketed past Mold/Connah's Quay way and that was it.
