I think things  are ticking along nicely, lots of showers about to push into northern england from the west, high temps in place, high dew points in place and a hell of a lot of CAPE to tap into. Watch these explode late on over northern england!

Looks to be game over for southern england though

Hey all. Very quickly built up virga and accas here west of cirencester - all looks a bit convective! Also starting to see some cumulus developing - interesting, even if we dont see anything storm wise

loooooooooooooonggggg time lurker, first time poster. I love the running commentary on these forums. just been out playing footy with my lad and I can't quite believe how oppressive it is out there. The heat has built so much since 4 pm (in Hinckley) and looking to the skies I think I see the first signs of convection poking through the muck and the white clouds are darkening more every time I look to the skies. I reckon 8 pm onwards will be kick off time if it's going to happen at all.

love this place by the way! hope to become a regular (treat me gently though as I am no expert) ....yet!

For S England, the game this evening was always 1/1000 shot. More likely to see something early hours or before lunch tomorrow.

Im holding fire on the idea that it's a bust currently in the south. Granted, nothing on the radar and a stout cap, but always a chance of a small scale feature rhat wasn't modeled changing the game with this much juice, and im definately seeing signs of lift here (to me of course!)

Can that cell over North Wales keep developing?, its throwing out a few lightning strikes, is this the trigger for some storms tonight? Fascinating to watch!

It's like watching your football team needing to win to get promoted and it's 0-0 after 70 minutes haha.
