Yes. This site has essentially made my life! Such a useful storm chasing tool aswell and to give reports and feedback to everyone.

As for surface temperature where you are, I wouldn't worry too much, as there's tonnes of rich, moisture laden air flooding up from down here. On the 3rd July here, we only recorded 22-23c with a cool east wind. Never would I have thought at that time would I see one of the most epic storms in recent history occur later on that night. I even remember some folk writing it off almost and saying it was so cool, the afternoon before.

Paul Sherman however highlighted the WAA flooding in from the south heading north that evening. He was spot on.

Thanks matey - a little carrot for me to hang on to for now!  I'm glued to the radar so fingers crossed then in that case.  Where is Paul Sherman these days is he still on here?

Just looking at the UK cape amazing figures anybody know what the temperature needed to break the cap if the front is too weak.

According to my local storm forecast (Net Weather), there is 3878j/kg CAPE, -11 LI, 21C dew point and.......................0% chance of a thunderstorm. *sigh* :( (I won't lose hope, though!)

That's only part of the story: the main initiation is this trough breaking through from the West clearing the cap. Once that's done, all the bits and pieces should be in place. A good sign is the speed this thing is travelling through; most models put it a lot slower, and thus the risk of nothing happening (too late in the day) was a real possibility. It think it's looking very positive at the moment.

Thanks VP - good info there so cheers.  Less pessimism and more optimism then for this afternoon :-)

Another chance tomorrow apparently will have too see if we in the wrong position for it or not. Quick look at GFS and that's a no for us tomorrow. So the blank period goes on.

They were OK but nothing severe in the slightest.  Was good to be woken up by them but I like the violent  ones lol

He may still be over in the states I think. Chasing the proper storms!

You know I'm going to sat radar watching all evening in hope. For the first time this week it has turned humid dew point 19.5C relative humidity 72% air temp 24.8C going back up again after the light shower

Going by the wind vectors one of the cold-fronts is across central Ireland, following a line on the map from Inverness down to Armagh.

Any reports from northwest wales? Those cells are looking juicy!

I'm in North East Wales but they do look good. They seem to be decaying though as they come further inland? Maybe they are running out of juice?

Phew! Warm and sticky here in lockerbie. Suns out and temp raised a bit. It feels a lot warmer than it actually is. But it'll be the same old story. No storms :nea::sorry:

If I could have this weather every day through summer, happy would be an understatement. Potential-filled skies like this. Just need something to go off!

Thank you. That's annoying though as we want them to explode!

Very oppressive here, with the light rain earlier only adding to the humid feel! We had a short sharp shower about 2pm, and the ground only a few minutes later was bone dry :D

Hoping a late evening storm can clear the air and give us a jolly good show!

Nice convergence zone over wales which explains why the storms build up oversea  then fizzle out over wales this afternoon.
