I' might gonna hang out at the camberley junction to the M3 for an hour.

Something sparks off in that time I will consider heading up toward Swindon or Oxford.

I do like the anticipation - but I'm not a big fan of the waiting :whistling:

The cumulus tower near mkt harboro  is the same one I was watching yesterday evening, once the sun breaks through,I reckon that will explode.

The skies are far more messy than the last few days, the Midlands could be good today.

The radar is looking very desolate at the moment with a few showers North of Swansea but that is it. This evening will be a disappointment I reckon, some Belgian village may get a flash of lightning or summin' like that.

Lets hope I'm wrong but I reckon if areas are going to do well tomorrow we should at least be able to break the cap today. Usually when I get my hopes up storms fail to deliver so maybe a bit of reverse psychology will work....

Looking on estofex, for 15:00 tomorrow if I'm reading this right, up to 4000j/kg CAPE. Hail as big as 6.0cm, equilibrium level (cloud tops) as low as -60 (promotes lightning activity) and reasonable wind shear.

Without over-egging this, tomorrow could be a very extreme day for some. All the ingredients seem to be there, apart from as mentioned earlier, a sufficient trigger I.e a cold front/trough. All of this will be moving NE.

Also worth noting, is that some more residual storm activity could well pop up during Thursday morning too over the Midlands. What an unusual setup this is.

Here's another snap of the 2015 Supercell taken from my home.

I was just learning about long-exposure and ISO compensation so it's a little grainy, but here's my shot of the 01/07/15 supercell as it was somewhere close to Skipton, some 2hr after it had passed through here.

i think there's a storm about to kick off over cardiff

How do you know this? Where?

All I know is a convergence zone is setting up over the M4/SE Wales.

My God the BBC are scared to talk about storms in Scotland. Their graphics hardly show anything for the early hours but the storm forecast on here suggests otherwise... Gonna have to wait and see but I'm not sure why they're so reluctant to mention storms

I've noticed they're always very hesitant to forecast storms. I guess they're so hard to predict where and when they're going to pop up, that they don't bother forecasting them much at all for fear of being incorrect.

In regards to the posts about supercells, only a couple really stand out over the past few years

28th June 2012 being the recent benchmark for UK storm activity

and July 1st 2015 which saw large hail over North Yorkshire

I'm just north of the M4 and there's nada going on here apart from a bit of haze

I don't understand, hottest in the south yet the North gets the thunderstorms??? Talking about fairness...

Fairness is giving us the storms up here since we've seen zero heat whatsoever!
