How would you guys say this looks? Skellingthorpe, Lincolnshire

Very similar skies up here near Waddington. Looks a bit more promising than the last couple of days I would say.

Fingers crossed, it's been building up for the past couple of hours

That's exactly what the sky looks like here at the moment... Very warm/hot and muggy though. :unknw:

Does look quite shallow to me, though if the CAP breaks a storm could develop in as little as 20 mins so its knife edge stuff.

Good luck to everyone in the UK under the risk zone of a thunderstorm. If the cap can be broken then could be some isolated but intense storms considering high CAPE values. I may be feeling rather jealous sat here under crystal clear blue skies and 30c in NW Germany. My risk is tomorrow, I believe from the same set up that is currently across the UK.

Been watching the sky on and off for the past 3-4 hours and the story has been (and continues to be) one of watching cumulus developing then smacking into the cap aloft and decaying.

Its pretty hot out there....but the one change since this morning has been in wind direction from SE to NW with a noticeable increase in the strength of breeze as well...

A nice line of convection in mid wales today, some eye candy if nothing else. Tomorrow should be better hopefully.

Great pic, the only good thing about thunderstorms during the day is when you get good sights like these as they build up

We are in the warning area so with a bit of luck we might get a good storm :yahoo:

usually in setups like this, things kick off north of us

Still a little early for storms just yet, my eye is on the time between 6pm and 9pm when the air-temp is starting to drop and eroding the cap a little, whilst ground-convection and topographic lift is still strong enough to get something breaking through.

They had thunderstorms for me between 2pm and 4pm...the thunder was epic by its silence...the lightning...indescribable...erm.

Thanks, and absolutely agree. The storms we had back in May were great but were a real mess by the time they arrived.

Hi there Everyone, I'm a first time poster but always keep up to date on severe weather with you guy's.

Thank you for everything over the years.

I mean this as i am partially sighted and have a guide dog. I am a 41 year old and have been like this since I got acid at work in my eyes 16 years ago. I have a voice recognition system that can read me messages and allows me to post.

However my question is this?

I live in the chilterns hills near to Stokenchurch and have just been given a new guide dog as my last one retired.

I have been told my new one does not like thunder and quivers and can become unresponsive.

Would any of you nice folk be able to tell me if I am likely to experience any storms in this area in the next few days?

It's only if I am, I can arrange a trainer or relative to come and assist should he get too scared and try to train him into a relaxed state.

PS. Before you ask, people always say where does your dog poo! They never see a guide dog poo in the street!

Well in my garden or when we have free time on a walk in the park with a relative on standby to pick up the mess is the answer!

Thank you for all your help in advance.

Kindest Regards
