A little off topic by this point in the evening but I got some nice rain at about 3.30 this afternoon.  I thought there would be more though...

Lightning, thunder here near horsham...where did that come from!

Yeah, seems that nocturnal cooling is helping this lot to keep persisting. Heading northeast, fairly quickly by the looks of it.

Just had a flash of lightning and peel of thunder here. Lit up blindingly behind the curtains.

Cant believe it, didn't expect that AT ALL!!

That could well have been a rumble...

Could do with storms staying away, got exams at school tomorrow and need some sleep!

Hey all,

In interesting down in the SE - notable PWAT values from what I can tell ahead of the cold front, and 50 kt of 0-6mk shear along with 100 m2 srh down there. This was proba bly on the forecasts but I didn't spot it earlier. Along with cloud top cooling I think the CF is engaging the plume that's just scraping us, and thermal advection running parallel in front is kicking things off further.

I have a micro shower near Cirencester  - I'll pop out and have a look. Beggars can't be choosers in the storm starved Cotswolds! :)

Agree, noticed the strong sheared environment too. Got itself into a squall line..

Had about 4-5 flashes and rumbles here. Still can't believe it as I wasn't expecting much in the way of rain let alone thundery activity

A great few hours here tonight, dozens upon dozens of lightning flashes, just a shame every single strike was IC. Not alot of thunder either, but that's normal with elevated stuff. Had some more small hail thrown in too. When's the next lot? :)

Incorrect :D I was on the hills just outside of Hythe and there were numerous strikes to ground... Great radar returns too!

The front cells were certainly IC in my area. I couldn't get east quick enough to get a clear view after this, I guess I missed out..

Much better than I was expecting though and I agree the radar looked great :)

Had a small storm last night at 11.30pm. Counted five flashes and one rumble on the first flash. I think it sideswiped us which is why I could see the subsequent flashes light up the room but was too far away for the rest of the thunder to be audible. The rain was really heavy which was nice. Sent me to sleep.

A storm loving mate of mine who lives to the south of Sevenoaks said it came right over him and was very loud. :D
