Had near constant thunder for the past 15 minutes or so, and hail just started falling from nowhere.

Also saw a lovely white CG a few minutes ago

Alright, so now I've managed to sort the pictures out properly please find the full set from this afternoons 3.30pm storm over Bexley...

So I knew something was going to happen on the way home when I could see the shape and size of this thing, it looked proper Usa style. I stopped on some backstreets I know with the most unobscured view I could get (difficult in the suburbs I know).

Decided to quickly head home but just had to stop on the main road I was on and take a picture of the storm as it was looking meaner by the second This was the view to the north...

Pulled up. Wait whats that to the north east?...

Cheeky scud?

20170602_155821.thumb.jpg.9d90fd7c72c5868126689b4f8f74ffeb.jpg

Then turned to my south and saw scud condensing out on this air and saw it was startng to rotate. I've seen enough storm chasing videos to know what that meant and quickly got into position as the scud tightend into a rope and a beautiful, but short lived (20-30 seconds at the most) funnel cloud formed right infront of me...

I thought today was going to be a total bust but I'm very happy to be proved wrong. Hope others have just as much luck, These storms are wild.

Thank you friend! I was just lucky to be in the right place at the right time, and its a a shame there were houses in the way but nonetheless I'm very grateful to have seen that.

Very threatening sky now!

You're too far north for the stronger storms, I think.  They'll probably exit the coast around Aldeborough.  You might like to pop down to Southwold and park on the front near the Pier - there's a good view along the coast from there.  You might even want to park at the harbour just to the south of the town.

Crickey, that bexley storm is still going strong in Essex! Plus, it looks like there's another one over the coast!

What direction was the microburst @Freezeflake? We had something here remarkably like one, sudden strong winds and intense rain and hail. Lasted about 30 seconds. I recorded the storm, just sitting down to see what it has come out like

Looked to be towards the Kenley, Warlingham direction. was pretty much isolated from the rest of the storm. We got hit hard as well but I've never had such a clear view of a one so was quite interesting to watch.

Indeed, I just took a pounding from that. Not quite last Sunday night, but there was some extremely heavy hail. Haven't heard a rumble for a while so I think it's moved away now,

Edit: Oh wow, the cold front is already over London now, so that's probably it for today

Looks pretty dangerous on radar! After a slow start this is turning into a very active day.

ActIvity is waning now, and moving off into the North Sea. Time to head back. Still, I got a few rumbles. Better than diddly squat!

NMM still keen on breaking out heavy precipitation overnight near the CF as it pushes east. They are showing MLCAPE too. I just don't know though, I think all the action today has been and gone.

So annoying, got the storm earlier on film, tried to upload it (for the first time) to YouTube (took forever) and then learned it is 30 seconds too long :sorry:

Will have to try later

OMG. Just had a downburst of some sort. Brief total white out (about 30 seconds), leaves flying around, large hail and frequent CGs. Incredible.

Definitely falls under the heading of severe!!!

Hi Harry,

do you know roughly what size (diameter) the hail was? Very jealous of your downburst! :)
