A couple of images from chase day 8. The b/w is the McLean Tornado, the first of the day. Briefly touched down as a thin rope just after this pic. The second was towards the end of the day when we stood up on an elevated position and took some pics of mostly inter-cloud lightning

Hey :)

Strange how that one fizzled out .. looks like the south of that line in Iowa is in a good windfield, with srh 300+, Aaron Pippin is about the closest to the tail end one that's TN warned

lock n' load!

It is a shame no one is on the southern cell as that looks the best of the brady bunch with it been more isolated.

Yeah that is a shame - its the only one staying discrete and looks healthy. I'd like to be sat in davenport now with a cold beer watching the sky! .. ah well, its gonna be mayhem tomorrow night! (Until all the streams fall over .. )

Will be having a beer too watching what might unfold and maybe some fun and games, but i do hope that the nadoes stay out of publicity and not create havoc,Oklahoma might be in the firing line though but i wish not

night time lightning would be my preference to view than a nado barreling down with no visability.

Hey Si,

Awesome idea :) I sort of do European storm sitting, not chasing lol - I basically get somewhere for two weeks and spend the whole time looking at the sky & swimming to cool off - saw an awesome supercell over lake Garda in Italy a couple of years ago. Seen some crackers in France, amazing country to travel in too ..

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming. Week Ahead: Cool but largely dry until later in the week, when low pressure returns

We keep a chilly northerly flow going through much of the coming week, especially noticeable in the east. Cloud and rain spreading south Monday, but after that, most places largely dry until later in the week, when it looks to turn more showery. Read the full update here
