Most shocking thing you have learned about your ancestors

That the ancestor who first brought my family name to the uk, back in the 1700s came from Germany. It really sounds like an Italian name haha.

Perhaps his father crossed the Alps and married a nice German girl, but can't find the name any further back... strange, but it is a full stop.

That an ancestor who left these shores for Barbados (who was called Nicholas of Barbados surprisingly) seemed to have had 6 wives and was recorded as being "drunk and licentious"......:shok:
