Still no change on met app for tomorrow birkenhead although for 18:00 today it shows heavy snow as winds change to wnw. We shall see

Yes. You have a small window of opportunity this evening as wins begin to back. They are backing from the north-west anticlockwise to the south by midnight; but surface winds are backing faster than the flow aloft. You will have a short time when the surface wind is off-shore but the showers will stilll be moving on-shore. Not so much for me though as there is not as much land to my south-west.

Its painful for us in greater manchester...just to north for all them showers coming out of liverpool bay...

Seriously thinking of throwing the towel in.. shower going a few miles to my south. Seem to be following the M61 into Swinton then north Manchester.

Been waiting all day for the 'heavy snow showers' that have been forcast on the met office app and are still being forcast now......not a sausage :(. Not holding out much hope for tomorrow either.

MetO App showing heavy snow between 16:00 - 18:00, the reality will be nothing of the sort as the Radar is showing any precipitation to be well South of here. All in all a pretty disappointing day which started well but ended up a bit of a slushy mess. As for tomorrow.......... ????

Going to be painful viewing for us tomorrow. Pics and reports all over the forum, pictures of snowmen and rulers stuck in the snow. Urgh.

Light gentle falling flakes now, no wind at all... all looks very tranquil shame the heaviest showers seem to be a touch too the south.

12Z still brings 9-12hrs if moderate to heavy snow to the warning area. It’s hsrdly different to the 06Z

Indeed, i really don't understand all the doom and gloom from some people in here, areas like Merseyside and Manchester still looks fine too me, not going to say its going to be 9-12 hours of continious snow but i be shocked if the northern extent does not reach those areas. As I said earlier, anywhere south of Preston is in risk of falling snow, anywhere north of there its very unlikely.

The northern edge will be a fragmented, drizzly mess. I don't fancy being under that. Throw in the rain shadow covering most of Cheshire and many will be lucky to see 5mm.

Selfishly IMBY looks great. Even if I don’t get pasted it’s a half hour drive to Llangollen, where I’ll go sledging. Winner.
