Gawd its been so long...gfs has decent precip over most of the region tomorrow night...still think elevation will be a big factor!

Yes, the trough in the early hours of Friday. I've notices the Met website only has less than 5% chance of precipitation for Manchester for Saturday so it has to be Friday morning.

I still think we will get some snow showers on Saturday afternoon as the wind starts to turn a bit more westerly but probably not heavy.

Wow just read the updated warning and yes its been expanded east which means those in the east of the region are well within the confort zone...

I suspect ther are seeing potential for streamers !!

Snow showers will fall to low levels,only exception MAYBE on the extreme coastline

WellGuys  on the met office twitter feed it shows half the country from East Scotland down through the spine of the country to the south midlands  then across to Bristol  all in the 2-5 cm zone  with 10-15 on higher ground    interesting  looks like quite an event   ps if anyone else sees it could they post it  struggling to upload

Was gona say now that they have moved everything slightly east it will probably mean more of the central midlands get into the action!!

Met now saying snow showers instead of wintery showers for tomorrow afternoon.

According to the GFS thats peak in land shower activity

The 12z ICON is the first of the afternoon models to come out. It keeps the wind w/nw for longer on Friday meaning more snow showers for us and then it takes the shortwave further north than the previous run (and the 6z gfs) so it affects our whole region on Sunday. Snow turning to rain probably.

Comparing it to the 6z it has more precipitation and also slightly further east even during the daytime on Friday. This is important as the 6z was a slight step east compared to the 0z.

Hope Dukinfield gets some of the action!  I'm 170m up nr the golf course, I'm gutted i won't be home though! Back in work trucking to Essex tonight then dundee tomorrow then coming back down to stoke so hopefully should see some snow ?... If the high winds don't get me tomorrow ?
