Thomasz on the Beeb mentioning earlier that it's not often snow settles on the beaches in the NW even in winter, nevermind coming up to the end of Autumn. It'll be interesting to see what effect this has on SSTs later on in the season.

Not expecting any snow to make it over this side of the pennines... maybe a few flurries will settle on the tops, but any promising snow activity on the radar is quickly obliterated when they come over the pens.  Lots of places to the east though, looking very wintry in places.

Nowt here so far apart from a damn cold feeling day with a stiff breeze along with plenty of sunshine.

as for snow chances, it's hard to get any further east in our region than where I live so maybe a dusting of snow by morning but not expecting any more than a bit of a covering.

Ours isn't on the blink and the house is still freezing.

Mine too, snuggled up with the dogs and wearing a thick jumper and the boilers going full pelt.  Lighting the log burner tomorrow morning as home all day!

Now that's something I'd like, a log burner.

A lovely last day of autumn, sparkling blue skies, little wind, biting arctic air, some snow on the tops. Its been a preety good November overall, quite similiar to last November, apart from last Wednesday which was an odd rain blip.

I remain positive about this winter - snow and cold wise. I feel quite similiar to how I did going into winter 12/13.

We have dandruff falling now in Oldham East so the showers although weak are just about penetrating this side of the pennines. Obviously not expecting much but a heavier burst of ppn wouldn't go miss :)

This is really getting on my nerves now. Been stuck at 3.2°C all evening, literary hardly moved a point at all in all that time. Just 20° clockwise wind shift and we would be sub-zero.

I for one am happy to see a move to cold zonality or whatever you want to call in in the models, we do well from battle ground situations, especially when there is an off-shore flow ahead of the lows. Can think of loads of examples of such that have delivered, 23rd Dec 2009, 13th Jan 2010, 18th Feb 2010, 18th Jan 2013, 25th Jan 2013,22nd March 2013, Boxing day 2014. You can stick your Northerlys, too early in the season.

As a long time snow chaser on here it kills me to say "me too for mild". Riding a scooter in this weather is scary stuff.

Well I got my covering.

barely a cm but as I was darn sarf when we got last weekend's more substantial falls this is my first lying snow of the season.

Off out now to do the part of winter I detest, scraping ice off cars.

Woo. A little frozen sleet on the frosty surfaces this morning, leaving everywhere lethally slippery.

Yes we got a sugar coat dusting of snow here- its mainly melting slowly now but some gorgeous sights further up- early Dec cold sunshine and a sprinkling of ice and snow ...

Shame im working nights at the scenery will be lovely.

I do feel for you guys near the west coast-it really is usually quite considerably colder here..
