The power of altitude !! Probably around 300m up at that point- goes another 50m higher up the road- this is where i was directing Karyo to.

Theres a dusting at about 300M ASL, thought the snow line would have been a bit lower.

Good too see parts of the region waking up to a dusting of snow at the very least, obviously no snow here but that covering of hail took a long time to fully melt as there was still quite large patches of hail on the ground a couple of hours after the shower went through. Hopefully I get too see at least one beefy hail shower today but we shall see..

Tonight also looks quite convective, the question will be, will the the snow line rise because there will be more wind tonight and more moderation off the sea? Just ashame the air can't be just that bit colder but still another 3 months at least of snow potential I hope.

That’s it now for thunder chances at least, CAPE steadily falls from now on.

It's snowed here sometime overnight between 2am when I was stumbling out the local and 10am when I first noticed it. About a cm or two has accumulated.

Good morning folks. Woke up at 9am and it was snowing lightly. Just gone dark again. Ominous

Very surprised to see plenty of hail on the ground today and a little snow on my commute. Unfortunately a couple of people already decided that it was impossible to crash in such weather and subsequently shut the m62 down for an hour or so.

This could make for a very interesting season indeed.

Only sleet, rain and hail showers here.  Pretty rubbish to be honest.

After all the attempts to snow last night it turned out to be a damp squib.

Good news is the cold will gonna stay with us.

As expected the showers turned to rain today and our cover has gone. The hills are still nice and white though and temperature is just starting to fall again, so hopefully we can get a few more snow showers out of this spell tonight. Currently 2.3°C

So our first wintry mix of the season for most inland areas with appreciable elevation.  Nice white covering this morning but as expected soon melted away.  Hopefully just a starter before the main course delivers more for more people as we progress into winter proper.

Managed to keep a 50% covering today, surprising as it was only a cm or so. Lovely views to the surrounding fells, central Lakeland fells have been pounded by snow showers all day.

Winter has arrived!
