Feels pretty warm outside, just a shame it's wall to wall cloud so no real advantage can be taken from it.

That said though, today's football could be a Phil Collins game, no jacket required which for Turf Moor in mid October is something special.

20.2°C now in strong sunshine. First time for at least 3 years since my records began that 20°C has been exceeded in October.

Sun's broken through now and it really makes a difference....from low thick cloud and 12c this morning too a warm 19c now.  Probably the last summer like feel of the weather until 5 months of gloom takes over.

Strange to see mean winds of 50mph on BBC weather app tomorrow, but sunshine & cloud with no rain forecast.  I bet some silly sod not respecting the force of nature will come a cropper in southern Ireland tomorrow.  It's looking very nasty for the Irish.

No chink of brightness as yet here, a grey leaden sky and low cloud shrouding the fells, its been like it all week. Sunshine totals so far this month well below par..

Next week looking very lively, a very wet October is on the cards for the Lake District. Hoping we see some colder drier sunnier weather last week of the month and some frost.

Its been a lovely day today - gardening and pond done. Winds of 50mph forcast tomorrow ? - my parents in Donegal, Ireland are set to get a battering tomorrow.

It is looking eerie outside now and it looking thundery too. I expect the winds picking up at around noon.

Probably just the rising sun shining through convective cells, ice crystals.
