Heavy showers this morning. Very sunny with just a few light showers after the diurnal minimum. The same pattern as every day this week apart from when we have been in warm sectors.

Yep, I just wish we could get a cold pool potent enough for some electrified cells. It's a really annoying time of year; lapse rates not yet steep enough for proper ocean effect convection, but not enough diurnal heating now for potent land convection;; if the wind ever even blows from the land anymore that is!

Those photos are of the reservoir bypass above Dovestone reservoir. See http://www.doveheritage.com/tunnel-under-the-hills/ for some history.

Anyway: we have an amber alert for wind overnight. When was the last time that happened? I don't remember one last winter.

First storm of interest this late season. It looks like there will be up to 70mph gusts possible in southern coastal parts of our region and potential on hills too as per the latest Met office amber warning for the region

Lol snow and thunder warnings always downgrade and miss here, then we get upgrades on the one we don't want!!! Not liking the potential 75mph gusts! :nonono:

A turbulent 12-18 hours ahead for the region, northern parts including here look set to see some heavy rain which could cause localised flooding, southern parts severe gaes -early for the season and something we have been spared in many recent autumns in the main.

If this was anytime between Dec and April, I suspect a snowfest would be on the cards here, a classic set up, with us locked on the cold side of the polar front, steep temp gradient cold air undercutting no wind or modification. Alas its September.
