Just crossed here now 10min ago, very squally winds ahead of the line with heavy rain blanketing the hillsides. In contrast to just 2hr ago when I was watching the sunset in a almost clear sky .

nice little storm earlier, with mostly bright purple  intracloud forks,   unusual to see the lightning fizzle as it moved east,  storms usually become more electrical as they head over to the east from here  daytime ones anyway

Just had these torrential showers for over 20 minutes.... so heavy... 96-120 mm peak rate.... rain was flowing off roof over gutters... back patio like a pond...

I can't speak for the rest of the region but it's been absolutely hammering it down here for about 4 hours and still no sign of it stopping.

its amazing how we are always far enough south when rain is forecast but to far north when dry, sunny and hot is on the menu

Same here, filthy day.  If it was winter if would have gone dark at 4pm and we could safely ignore it, but in the middle of summer to sit and watch (or even worse 'actually be outside in it') constant heavy downpours while there's still plenty of daylight left... you almost feel like you're being robbed of your summer entitlement.  No signs of any drastic improvement soon either.

I'm not a fan of heat but today has been awful, almost non stop heavy rain from early afternoon. I find convective cloud landscapes with sunshine & showers more interesting. The outlook doesn't look good for long lasting warmth/heat. The best of summer might already be over. Seems to be hard to get a proper heatwave after mid August.......well at anytime of the year here in the North-West. The clock is ticking on this summer.

Cloudy with few sunny spells here this morning currently dry temp is around 19c, feels a bit cool with the breeze. With no sign of anything summery soon I am looking forward to my 3 weeks at Torres de Bellmon lots of sunshine and sangria

Pretty well a typical summer Sunday.

Driving back to Cumbria after a weekends coprate jaffa cakes up in Ayrshire,expecting som beefy showers on way home .

Not sure how widespread the showers will be today, but they're already starting to sprout up from nothing on the radar.  Pretty sure at some point today there will be a downpour in my back garden.  At least there will be spells of reasonably warm sunshine in between.
