Unfortunately cloud has kept temperatures suppressed here, won't be happy if it happens again tomorrow.

We should all be fine tomorrow and Friday as there is an off-shore wind.  then it's all bang on Saturday.

Pesky fair weather cloud has taken over much of the sky! It's over 27C now though

Reached 27c here, easily our warmest day of 2017 and hopefully the first of many hot days in the next few months.

just a shame it all goes belly up just in time for the BH weekend.

Peaked at 28.3C here today...not too shabby but getting into the 'too warm for me' category!

Not sure max temp but suspect it got to 25 degrees, Kendal saw 26 degrees, its usually 1 degree cooler here.. high pressure overhead in May can easily return such figures given the power of the sun, indeed 2008, 2009, 2010,2012 all brought maxes at these levels, I think also last sunday of May last year - so nothing exceptional, but good all the same. This evening is sultry, we have very warm uppers travelling through the region overnight into Scotland. Tomorrow I suspect will see maxes a degree higher than today, so somewhere in the region could just about hit 29 degrees, but doubt 30 degrees will be breached. Come Saturday, a very different feel, starting off very sticky and humid and overcast before thundery outbreaks move through late morning..

What a forecast! Saving this for prosperity.

Regional forecast for North West England

Hot and sunny again today. Thunderstorms tomorrow.

Today:

Friday will be dry, sunny and hot again everywhere, even on the coast. Crosby was the hottest place in England yesterday and it could well be again today. A warm breeze will develop later, particularly on the hills. Maximum Temperature 28 °C.

Tonight:

After a warm sunny evening, we will all have another mild and rather muggy night. There will be a very little cloud and a new moon. Minimum Temperature 16 °C.

Saturday:

Heavy thundery showers will arrive during the morning, perhaps causing some localised short lived surface flooding. Fresher but still sunny and warm weather will replace the thunderstorms by late afternoon. Maximum Temperature 26 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Sunday will be fresher though mostly dry with sunny spells. There will be sunny spells and a few showers on Monday. Tuesday will probably be dry, warm and sunny.

Take the heat Island that is Heathrow out of the equation, Blackpool , not for the first time this Spring/ Early Summer, leads the hot spot charts, currently 26C

Tonight's going to be even more uncomfortable for sleeping than last night, with left over heat and humidity on the rise.  Clammy... maybe a few decent t-storms tomorrow will herald a little fresher weather.

Not very often NW England has been the location of the hottest temperatures in Western Europe and this week the last 2 days has been the case.. We enjoy it most than many when it arrives. Fantastic and well rewarded for one of the sun starved places in Euroland. The synoptics have been in our favour for much of the Spring/ Early Summer. Hope for more !
