Although living in Skipton , North Yorks, I think its really lies in the NW part of England. Mainly cloudy start with sheet of Sc at about 2000ft but that horrible wind not present. Signs that the sun should break through soon. Very dry conditions in these parts and the local river down to a trickle, not seen this for a long time.

Superb May weather at the moment. Another day with wall to wall sunshine blue skies and unlike many a recent one, light winds, making for a rather more pleasant feel, even if temps have been below average, after a very chilly night.

I think Shap went down to -5 degrees which is very cold for May.

Tonight what a stunning evening, light winds and clear skies another lovely sunset. Tomorrow is going to be a smasher, virtually no wind and feeling a bit warmer.

Had nearly 2 weeks with no rain now. It will be a very tall order to record such a lengthy dry sunny calm spell again this side of September I reckon, such conditions always far more likely April-May and indeed first half of September.

Just realised the grass is turning browner here. Also went to the local park the other day and one of the lakes already almost dried out of water. Looks like another wall-to-wall sunshine day today.

Make the most of it before Summer arrives!! 8)

Stunning morning in Skipton. Not a cloud in the sky and wind light should feel very nice today. South Lancashire projected for the highest temp in the Kingdom today.

Whilst South Merseyside shivers under an on-shore wind. At least tomorrow looks good.

19c yesterday maybe 20-22c today will be lovely.... garden needs a bit of rain... sprinklers on grass last night as drying out...  enjoying the blue skies and the plant growth over the last two weeks.... managed to get the outside of the house painted too... hoping for a few humdingers Friday....

Another cracking day's weather, sun for much of it, cloudier but still bright now and with a peak of 21c, warm enough for me.

just a shame it all goes a bit pear shaped as we approach weekend but hopefully sunshine and showers rather than constant rain and maybe even a thunderstorm or two thrown in for good measure.

What a super day in Skipton and the Dales area. Mostly sunny skies and warmth. Temp reached 21c mid afternoon.

Woo! 4mm of rain and the sun's out again. It will all have evaporated by teatime.

Had a measly 1.2mm of the wet stuff. Hopefully a lot more over the next few days, the rivers around here haven't been this low for many years. A dry summer could mean water shortages later in the year, our spring is just a trickle now.

Horrible wet start to the day, not unsurprising really given the forecast but disappointing after the glorious conditions of the last few days. Hopefully though the back edge to this cluster of showers shown on the radar will push north through the region in the next couple of hours leaving some better conditions for the remainder of the day.

shouldn't complain as I imagine we need the rain but I'd prefer it overnight and in the week instead of messing up a weekend's plans.

Dry and warm here. Doesn't look like it's rained all night.

Brightening here now and hopefully a bit of sunshine will drag the temperatures up a bit.

maybe a decent second half of the day is on the cards.

Well any thoughts it had of clearing through has disappeared as we've gone from brightness and even a bit of warm sunshine back to wall to wall cloud and a bit of rain in the air

and here was me thinking that the forecast might hold true.

still time for it to pull something out of the bag.
