I am skeptical of any real snow amounts for west country from a northerly, was more hopeful of the back edge snow to be honest as northerly always leaves us with a wishbone affect :cc_confused:

Looks dry and cold with possible flurry's around western fringes with northern exposure to me.

It's a Northerly with a lot of unstable air in it.

We would be very unlucky not to see something if it pans out as currently shown, especially higher ground and away from the coast.

Hang on, I've just ruled myself out

I hope Ian can post in here at some point. Despite his withdrawal from the mod thread, i'm sure he mentioned that he would provide the odd insight for the West country folk.

I think his days of posting on forums are over sadly. A real shame. But at least he keeps us up to date on Twitter.

I think he was badly burnt by the "trolls" within the "Model Forum", sad but that is life on the Internet. I think his masters made it quite clear to him, what he can and cannot undertake in the electronic world. It was really sad that whilst he was on the SW&CSE forum, life started good, and then the trolls came for him..

Just goes to show how the charts are not to be trusted even when they are only 96hrs away. Plenty of snow on show, but no faith in that happening. If it was a named Atlantic storm showing, early warning would be out.

Its been warned many times and never come to fruition also to be fair. I wouldnt trust an early warning.

It looks like a cold weekend but just skeptical because we see them topple after 48 hours before only to leave many of us with a frost for most.

A cliche of course but I am a fan of get the cold air in first and see what happens....But that is on the proviso the cold air sticks around. Sadly I think the real cold snow inducing air won't be about for long this weekend.

Yeah I was sucked in last week with the charts for a whiteout. But hey I'm only human!

Seriously don’t know what’s with some in the mod thread. Northerly incoming, that’s set in stone pretty much, after that, could be very very interesting or just very cold and wet lol, but 6-7 days away, My experience in these setups where we have sliding lows is that they end up way west of where they were originally modelled.

West and South indeed. I was always under the impression once cold air is on its harder to shift hence why sliders always correct further away. So get a slider forecast for Aberdeen a week away then we'll be in business.

As frosty aka political party for arctic air says in the mod thread it could easily be mild mush we are lucky to have this on the doorstep.

Counting down the days though is tiresome though. Can not be next weekend already? :fool:

The road in general should be banned.

I forgot the word corridor. Apparently one can't be used without the other.

M4 corridor. ?

Yes! And then you see the 18z and some of the responses to it (I know - only one run) and you feel confused ?.... I haven’t a clue what’s going on ?. Need a break from model watching!

People worrying about snow charts 5 days out, it’s laughable in there tonight ?.

detail will become clear mid week, then it’s all about surprises

one possibility

Hoping for some proper low temperatures. If snow isn't on the menu, I do like extremes in my weather station records.

Averaging -8 to -9 °C on the 850 ens.

If the winds die and clear skies, some proper cold nights I’m sure

I found their outlook quite interesting, as they were very nondescript about Friday apart from "colder by the end of the week"..

Surprisingly low minimum last night at 1.5C. Cloudy morning and currently 5C.

All eyes on Thursday onwards and fingers crossed for something more than a ten minute snow flurry like last week!
