South West and Central Southern England Regional Weather Discussion 23/04/17 onwards

Perfect cold front clearance allowing 5 minutes of sunshine after a thoroughly miserable day. Temperature has dropped 3.2c in the last 20 minutes. Roll on tomorrow's sunshine because Thursday isn't looking as decent as it was.

Not a bad morning with some high broken Sc. Temp 15C and a westerly breeze

Cloudy with a fair bit of stratus. Difficult to see what's above. Temp 14C and a light westerly.

A pretty grotty morning with Sc, St and embedded CU. Recently had a moderate rain shower. Temp 15C and quite breezy from the WSW

Woken up by squally heavy rain at 6am as that band moved through. Quite strong winds on it.

Now just a bit yucky with more rain on the way. 14C

A decent downpour earlier has added to the days total, currently 2.6mm.

Currently 15.6°C.

Blimey that's a lot in not very long! Not even 2mm here as the heavy showers are moving so quickly.

Nowhere near 29mm here. 3.2mm so far from a few showers not long ago.

I know right! Both surprised and not given the intensity and longevity of the rain as the trough moved through. Wettest day of the year here so far.

I wasn't disbelieving you Mike, just shows what can happen if the heaviest passes over. 

Thunder to the SW , 4 loud rumbles in the last 2 minutes. Lovely CB in that direction !

You lot should have posted in the convective thread as well as theres nothing in there from our area apart from my posts.

Just dark clouds around with sunny intervals right now and I don't have any footage but there was some thunder earlier along with very heavy showers. I saw one intra-cloud strike with a nice loud rumble overhead looking from our back door.

11mm of rain yesterday and 0.2mm early morning.
But cannot complain, with the amounts they are predicting to fall in Florida.

Sun is out here now and light 5mph Westerly wind, but its only 15.8c.today after the last week of 18c to 20c temps.

After a mostly sunny and breezy morning, black sky has encroached from the northwest and it's just started chucking it down!

Nice little thunder storm going on. Had about 5 simultaneous strikes, sounded awesome echoing in the valley.

Great storm passing just over the edge of Salisbury Plain with frequent lightning, thunder and a proper monsoon of rain. One strike was practically overhead, actually make that 2 as I type!! Definite positive CG very nearby! Radar suggests it maybe back building too.

Yep. Thunder, lightning and heavy rain here now. We were sat out in the sunshine 20 minutes ago.

I think I may have seen one of your Positive cloud to grounds here in the distance watching a storm to the northeast earlier on.

It sounded like a cannon going off in the distance, it had no branches and quite a thick channel.
