Please let someone be older than my 46 years! I've been lurking for many a year on here and even the BBC Snow watch days. Whatever happened to Mr Crazy Snowfan!! ??

That band does look pretty organised if it could just hold together through those Welsh mounds.

hold together past wales....If you been around 46 years you must be aware that we always lose to wales in this instance.. :nonono:

I am laughing childishly ?

Poor Jo in the mod thread. That image has caused quite the stir lol!

Anyway imuendo aside, I think surprises are coming overnight! If we can get some proper trough action the welsh mountain things won’t stop it!

Mr Crazy Snowfan's last tweet was November 2010. Quite fitting really with what followed shortly after.

Wow is it really that long ago that there was a decent chance of a snowy Winter? I know I’ve not logged if for a while but according to my profile that was 7 years ago in 2010! ?

i think it’s down to living in Hampshire, anything from the North never comes to anything thus far inland and south and any cold event from the south is killed off by the IOW ?

Throwing my opinion in the pan. Possible passing light sleet or snow showers or flurries for this part of Hampshire tomorrow and on to the weekend with best risk of decent snow looking like early hours of Monday.

Not of course forgetting 2013, which I was sadly not in the country for.

On a side note, I've always wondered why snow showers have so much more of a problem with the Welsh mountains than rain showers do.

Last lying snow I saw was Feb 2015 but that was probably 1cm at best and lasted less than half a day. Have to go back to 2013 for the last lying snow that lasted a day or more.

I’ll have to check on an old computer but I know there’s been decent snow cover in my area since 2010. I remember driving to work with lying snow around for the best part of 10 days

Ditto. February 2015 was an overnight trough unforecasted by met office/BBC even the same evening. December 2010 was forecasted to be an M4 southward event until about T+12 when it changed to M40 southward.

Thought the temperature was never going to drop having been a steady 5.2 for a couple of hours but dipped a degree in the past 30 minutes so now getting somewhere.

These North-Westerlies do my bontz in watching all that lovely precip vanish time after time on radar-watch :nonono:

At least I can recall the epic winter of 62/63.  I had just passed my driving test and it was harrowing.  The snow ploughs were out all day everyday and being no where else to put the snow it was banked up either side of the roads and you were literally driving through tunnels. Road signs were buried in drifts of snow and trees were falling because of the sheer weight of snow on the branches. The frozen snow and ice on the trees gave them all an appearance of giant chandeliers under the street lamps.  I could go on. but I would love you all to witness such a sight one day.it was truly magical.

So the good news from here is it looks like I'm in line of a steamer... er streamer coming off the north Devon coast. Still as rain but hopeful of it turning to the good stuff later.
