South west corrections that keep correcting I smell a whiff of March 2013.......:fool:

The corrections only seem to be showing on the GFS. The FAX charts show a SW/WSW wind, no chance of snow with that wind direction down here.

ah but the fax charts haven't been modified from the raw output from the 00z UKMO. Given the Amber warning in Northern Scotland that doesn't surprise me, they are most likely very busy focusing on that for the time being.

Couldn't help but post in the mod thread earlier about how awesome the snow chart was that someone posted (yes I know it won't come off as shown), not because it's great imby but more the big shift south of the lp system compared to previous runs, on the gfs anyway (wonder if other 12z runs will continue the trend though). I've seen so many posters living up north posting how awesome and brilliant all the charts being posted were which weren't good for our patch so couldn't resist :)

Good on you Smartie, I've been trying my best to fly the flag for our region, without hope-casting. If a chart shows snow for us, rest assured I will be one of the first to highlight it. :D

Well indeed but still time for things to change though (probably head north now!!!) But shows how complex the situation is.

I wonder if the slider does indeed slide into france what effect it has on the following week's weather?

So it looks marginal down here right?  Where can I place a bet on the "North of the M4" line coming out this week? :p

Whatever happens over the next few days I won’t miss the weather we’ve got at the moment. Dull, mild and boring. :lazy:

Excellent work karlos

The OH and her daft mate are driving up to Bristol on Friday afternoon. I reckon they'll have a decent chance of seeing some of the white stuff falling somewhere along the A36.

An "upgrade" in dorset corresponds with a downgrade here...dry now for a couple of days! Sure it will flick back in the next half hour! :)

I see the weather forecast I caught on news 24 right at the end had a caption stating possibly significant snow on Sunday, no mention of where though at this stage of course.

  • Chilly with an increasing risk of frost

Once Monday's band of rain fades, the next few days will be drier. However, it will feel cool, even cold, in the breeze or under gloomy skies, with an increasing risk of frost. Read the full update here

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming. Week Ahead: Cool but largely dry until later in the week, when low pressure returns

We keep a chilly northerly flow going through much of the coming week, especially noticeable in the east. Cloud and rain spreading south Monday, but after that, most places largely dry until later in the week, when it looks to turn more showery. Read the full update here
