Our nearest is Southampton. Open to anywhere 1 hour from here. I'm actually going to take Jess to Portsmouth on Tuesday to go to the sealife centre as Sophie is at nursery. It will be our first day together ever since Sophie was born.

Hi Polar bear, just passing High tide now in Bognor but really gusty as the web cam tell you if you put sound on. Saw one idiot standing right at the edge of the shingle, saw the wave was bigger than expected, tried to run backwards, fell flat on his back and got covered by the surf. One lucky man not to be dragged into the sea. I bet he wont do that again as it will have been a cold and soggy walk to somewhere he could dry off. Wind chill wouldn't have made it comfortable for him.

Chimet just showed F8 gusting F10. Must have been quite a squall as we are only forecast F9 gusts.

Just had gust of 49.8 knots- 57.3mph.

Hello cold fingers, yes I saw that person too (fool), and yes definitely a lot more angry sky and waves... surfers aren't out now either.

Chichester harbour (cambernet) gusting to Force 8 now... so that is quite a breeze as quite sheltered as more inland... I've been caught on the mudflats once years ago in a force 8 at thorney... it ain't funny..

Great beach cam, one of the best I’ve seen.

Helicopter back again.. it’s Selsea Coastguard. Twitter said they would be doing patrols so maybe this is what it is. Sea seems to be settling down a little

Heard on twitter Littlehampton lifeboat is out and they reckon Shoreham one too! Hopefully not a kid, adults never have my sympathy when they do something dangerous but kids do, can't blame them so much for not being sensible.

Interesting the IOW has reported some of the strongest winds, and yet down here it's been a "breeze", OK so the occasional gust, but overall nothing more unusual that any Autumn low that crawls through.. No tree damage, no fence damage, the only thing we see are the remaining leaves from the trees spread on the nearby areas..'Brian' with no balls down here..

Much the same here, winds have been 18-25mph through the day but only gusts of 30-35mph.
Its been a generally blue sky day with some light grey cloud cover passing over quickly a few times.
But its been mostly dry with just a few passing drizzly showers.

Its 12.7c now and wind has dropped last hour to 18mph winds with only 25 mph gusts.

One max gust of 37mph here at some point in the afternoon with mostly 30mph gusts throughout.

It was a nice windy day with some sunshine at times and with your typical windy day level winds we get throughout autumn.

I was expecting it to be stronger to be honest with a named storm coming in with max gusts of Force 8 to 9 rather then the Force 6 to 7 we got.
