For whatever reason the storm has lost thundery activity as it's making landfall, shame as the anvil is clearly visible in the dusk light.

However a rapidly developed line behind it which looks more like a trough/front. Let's hope it doesn't decay too, could be a midnight feast for the eyes.

It must have produced some lightning though Andy as I definitely heard a rumble from it earlier!

Also, hope that trough does indeed give us the goods later.

Flash flood in POOLE earlier.

Ok so it was only a mere 1.3mm, but having heard so much hype about what was forecasted, well.....

Dont believe it.

Nowt here. In fact, the humidity that built this afternoon seems to have almost disappeared.

Blimey, I took my eyes off the radar for an hour only to see it's exploded.

Still probably a tad west for my locality but Poole could have some fun, maybe IOW? Still new areas popping up with each radar update.

Flash flood sweeps through Coverack in Cornwall

Quote

Residents in Coverack, on the Lizard Peninsula, have reported roads being blocked and hailstones the size of 50 pence pieces smashing windows.

Heavy rainfall hit at about 15:00 BST and the coastguard airlifted two people trapped on the roof of a house. Four people remained in the building.

Emergency services have asked people to avoid the area and not attempt to drive through any flood water.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said its crews were attending "multiple flooding-related incidents" and urged people to "avoid this area".

I can see it all going off down South if I stand on the bbq... I'm getting old for this lark.

Off to get a good view from the field.

I can see the north somerset area  missing out again from this second line of storms, which would take the p**s if  that's how it plays out!

Looking South/south east the lightning was pretty constant. I assumed it was over Southampton, but checking the radar now I'm back and it hadn't got that far. Still spectacular though, from this distance.

I couldn't see as much going on to the South West, which would be heading this way if it survives that far.

Funny how the forecast bullseye area is likely to miss out completely lol.

The flashes from my south are becoming brighter to me, and more frequent, but there's now stuff separately going off to my SE. Still no thunder YET but really impressive for the distance, as Jtay says.

We may not need to rely on the Channel Storms (which often die off anyway). Cell developing between Weston-super-Mare and Midsomer Norton and this could develop further and set a trend for other local developments. 'Could' be an interesting night for some.

John in Quedgeley, Gloucester

p.s. And the one in the Bristol Channel to the west of Weston just developed from nothing...

Literally just turned the light off to go to bed and am greeted with a flash of lightning and thunder from the cell that's appeared to my east.

Just in from combining, trying to get as much done before the rain. Had an amazing light show from a storm over towards Oxford direction, for almost half an hour, I assume this is the big storm that everyone has mentioned. And sitting here looking due South and I have more flashing!!
