Oh dear I hope something forms later or I will be very disheartened.:nonono:

Everything looks either to have been to the West or East of here so far, come on man!:wallbash:

Sat in my new brewshed, eating icecream, thinking it was all sliding east, but just got a good flash and bang nearby. I think it's picking up a bit further west now.

Lyme Regis looks to be the sweetspot for this one judging by the direction its heading......

Just ran the animation on the radar, this one appeared from nothing in less than 40 minutes... bodes well!

Ben, cracking storm has rapidly formed in the Channel. I reckon it will head roughly Yeovil to Bristol but should be at the right time to view lightning as it passes, possibly moreso for you than me. Also another smaller cell East of it so perhaps, PERHAPS, more will develop in between in the next hour or so.

If this keeps its current track I could be in the sweet spot!

I can definitely see the tops of orange cumulonimbus clouds and cumulus to my South and Southwest at the moment. Is that probably the stuff that you are referring to that will affect us later. Not sure if its coming this way or not just by eyesight.

I have been watching them there for quite a while so they don't seem to be moving very fast.

EDIT: I see the stuff in the channel, yeah there not the clouds I am seeing then and that lot isn't going to be here for a while so may die out or miss us by the time it gets inland.:nea:

Just heard a faint rumble to the southwest from the cumulonimbus clouds I mentioned earlier!:)

Shows my cloud watching works, glad I kept an eye out for those clouds else I would have missed that.

EDIT:

Still feel not much is going to happen here, but I hope our turn is indeed for later this evening.

Never sure if I come under SW or SE here in Reading, so I'll plump for SW!

Anyway, right under the storm cell in the South at the moment. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much looking at earlier radar; these events generally tend to dissipate as they cross the south downs, but for once it seems to have developed further. We're sitting right under the tail of the storm right now with decently heavy rainfall and some fairly frequent lightning. It's nothing special (my years living in the US have spoilt me), but for these parts it's a notable thunderstorm. Loving the shape of that storm on the radar too; seems to be a bit of rotation aloft unless my weather knowledge is even worse than I think?

Interesting sky about 20 mins ago . Feeling sultry here . I have been in Basingstoke / Farnborough today , where it is now all kicking off ! Arrived back here at tea time . Think I've missed out weather wise, but good to be back home .

Not heard anymore thunder since that last rumble.

Think I am going to have to just spend the night looking out for distant heat lightning now for potential arriving storms.

Got a horrible feeling that thats our chance gone for the period now though.:sorry:
